 Bench press arms position, Just a question

Hi,

I want to ask you guys specifically for those who have lanky body figure (long limbs). I heard that ppl with longer limbs fare well in deadlifting but not so good at bench presses because the distance need to be covered is further. So, I am one and yes I feel my bench is far lesser than both squats and dl. On regards to hands position, the general rule of thumb is to grip the bar with the ring finger on the "ring mark" of the bar. I been using this grip ever since and I feel like changing the grip so I can further improve the physics behind my lift.

I thought of extend a little bit more, so that my index finger would be on the mark instead. And also, i usually flare my elbows out a little. Now perhaps I will flare less and try to keep my forearms as perpendicular to the ground, as this generates a stronger push upwards.

Any ppl with long arms have inputs?

In my opinion less flare out emphasis on triceps while more flare out emphasis on your chest. But you might not want to injure your shoulder if you flare your elbows too much. Just stick what's comfortable for you.

I understand what you mean. Because i used to be one of that. Extreme long arm.
