Install 64 bits OS. Most 32 bits programs could run in it.

Just install the 64-bit OS directly, you don't have to install 32-bit OS first.

But make sure your CPU supports it.

you just need to ensure your cpu able to support 64bit, and do you know the difference for 32 and 64 bit ?

if not program wise, the difference would be supporting > 4GB of ram [for 64 bit]

if you have 16 GB of ram on a 32 bit computer, you only get 4gb max

That's right, one of the main reasons why people use 64-bit OS is because they want to use more RAM.

Because Windows 32-bit is limited , it can take > 4GB of RAM with PAE , for some reason they did not enable it for client OS , works for server

one can just install 64bit OS directly without much worry. Today's hardware can run 64bit not problem. 32bit OS is history already. 2GB RAM? sure 64bit no problem at all. Even phones OS moving towards 64bit...cough***ios***cough....
