I was using Radeon HD5750 but soon upgraded to Radeon 5850.
The new HD5850 makes my room a lot hotter than last time, about 3-5 degree celcius increment.

Until today I cannot bear with its operating temperature anymore as the weather become hotter and hotter, and no longer interested in gaming.
So I decided to look for a new one. Is there any better gpu in term of performance and operating temperature and cost RM500 or below to recommend?

Major task: watch HD movie(mkv and..) on 1920x1020 screen and some graphic editing.

sell the gpu and top up a bit to get either the gtx 650ti boost or hd 7850

Otherwise , the 7790 which the members suggested here should fit the bill.

Excellent choice. On par with a HD 7870, the price is really crazy for this kind of performance. biggrin.gif

With just around RM50 price difference, the GTX660 indeed performs much better than the HD7790, making it a better buy.

More future-proof too.

are you sure you guys are not seeing stuff?

Not possible for 660 series to be priced that low because a 650 Ti Boost alone is already about RM 600.

the 560 drains approx 150w on load. should work fine with your PC502.

ok saw. man, that's uber cheap!

Looks like he's clearing stock because his LYN page itself doesn't have the brand, and you'll see his other 660 also not under RM 600.

Goldfries,

you're right but this Xigmatek NRP PC502 500W is pushing 4years old.
It's ok with the Galaxy GTX460 and lower powered, but when I swapped in the EVGA GTX 560 it shuts down a few minutes after loading any games like COD4 / DOTA 2.

I'm switched out the GTX 560 and now using a HD 5750 and it's behaving itself running no problems with games so I guess the gtx 560 is triggering the overload protection..
I'm surprised as well..gonna relegate it to my 2nd pc.

I ordered a Super Flower Golden Green HX600M rated 80+ gold.. The name gives me that made in china low cost quality feeling but reviews are good and gold is better than bronze..

yeah, well just stating those earlier in case anyone thinking a PSU like that is not sufficient.

they're often weakened after many years of usage.

Better get it quick, I think it's very limited.

Like i said earlier, his sales thread no longer has Galaxy so it really looks like just a few units left to sell at really cheap price.

If one looking for raw performance right out of the box for about a RM100 more, then the GTX 660 is definitely the best choice. Guessing that those are very limited units available only, so better act quick. biggrin.gif

hmm.gif I thought he said he
1) No longer Interested in gaming
2) looking for performance and Operating temperature for HD Movies and some Graphics Editing
3) Low in temperature..

Maybe if we know what his other PC spec.. if its Intel than just use the IGP should be enough... and meet the temp requirement. Maybe just my 2 sen. whistling.gif

I wouldn't worry about his PSU too much, if its sufficiently running a HD5850 right now, it should be able to handle any GPU in the RM500 budget range.

I'd still grab that Galaxy GTX660 at RM530 if the offer is still on, or get a HD7790 instead.

Well he is correct though. If no longer interested in gaming then IGP would work just fine if the system has it.

If not, then a lowly HD 7750 would do the trick and it has decent firepower to for games if ever TS decides to game again, although the HD 7750 would perform not as good as his HD 5850.

Maybe he said that..

Maybe sometimes he want to play game, a bit tongue.gif
