So this was what happened to me last time, the speaker I'm working with only have jacks behind to be plugged in, not those type where you can just "screws" wire in. I want to solder the wires on the plug but the solder doesn't seems to stick on the plug, just on the cable only..
*
Could be dirt and/or oxidation that prevents the solder from sticking. Scrape or sand the area until you can see some clean shiny metallic surface. Then put a bit solder flux. Now the solder should stick.... hmm.gif

yup..

Then those inputs are mono actually (as with all microphone inputs). You could tap directly at the pre-amp output stage but require some modifications to the board inside your "amplifier" unit... hmm.gif

actually i'm working on the school's p.a. system, well not now but soon.. and just found out that we're no more using the old power amp but a mixer..
the old power amp only got "Mic In", but this new mixer got "Balanced or Unbalanced" and "Mono"
does the "Bal or Unbal" means stereo can be used?
QUOTE(infrasonic @ Nov 24 2013, 06:31 PM)
here's the new mixer

Nopes, balanced and unbalanced are different types of inputs. That new mixer has both L and R inputs, but each individual connector is required per channel. If you are not familiar with balanced inputs then use unbalanced inputs. Actually can still use balanced also, with the return signal (or inverting input) set to ground. Check the new mixer manual on the connectors required to use those inputs... wink.gif

QUOTE(infrasonic @ Nov 24 2013, 06:31 PM)
also sometimes we will use the old amp also in some other places..so if possible i like to make the cable to be mono..but the one into the pc must be stereo, so it's male-male but stereo-mono
can i do something liddis? i connect the signal cable together from the stereo (left & right become 1 cable), then to the mono i just connect them together..
sorry if my explanation very hard to understand, i'm bad at explaining  sweat.gif
Very much depends on the type of output from the device. If its headphone amplifier output then can be disastrous (ie. risk damaging and/or blowing up the headphone amplifier circuit). To be on the safe side, use two 10KOhm resistors per channel (in series) before summing/joining both channels as a single mono audio channel. icon_rolleyes.gif

Umm, may I know if there is anyone who can make an IEM replacement cable?

It requires a pair of mini DC plug (1.3mm) to a 3.5mm stereo plug.

Here's some picture I found on the internet.

At least, can I know where to get those 1.3mm DC plug?
I have no luck in findings those.

Can try Pasar Road, as well as any online stores such as RS Components, Farnell/Newark/element14 or Mouser. As for replacement cable, can try more2teayap... nod.gif

Sorry for the trouble, I've made a mistake regarding the size  sweat.gif

It's actually a 2mm plug (outer), inner should be +-0.7mm.

Oh, I also want to mention that it is strikingly similar to the old Nokia charger's plug.
Someone mentioned about Jalan Pasar to me before, but I have no idea where it is exactly.
(Doesn't even know how it looks like...)

Pasar Road (or Jalan Pasar) should be easy to find, just right down the road from Berjaya Times Square. If lost then ask for directions. hmm.gif

Anyone had experience doing LOD for Sansa Fuze?
*
Can use a simple resistor network, or just a potentiometer to adjust the line level outputs... wink.gif

QUOTE(ruffstuff @ Dec 24 2013, 09:53 AM)
Do you guys know where to find this type of jack?
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «
I need mono 3.5mm jack like above.
*
You can also use the stereo version, and ignore one of the connections. Again, can try Pasar Road, as well as any online stores such as RS Components, Farnell/Newark/element14 or Mouser... icon_rolleyes.gif

Already contact more2teayap before, unfortunately he doesn't carry those either.
Can try me also if interested, but not sure if my workmanship is up to par.... tongue.gif

Thanks, will try to explore Jalan Pasar in the near future  smile.gif

Should be easy to find (as already provided the map in an earlier reply above)... icon_rolleyes.gif

Your location is Kuantan, right (from your profile)? I do have a friend who has a friend that repairs electronic equipment, although I'm not sure if he does IEM repairs and/or provide recabling services. Just PM me for more information... hmm.gif

can i know that is this torn headphone cable can be change/repair or not.

if can where and how much.
thanks  notworthy.gif

My Philips headphone cables also suffered the same fate, the cable rubber sleeve disintegrating. Bought a spool of cable (of correct size/diameter industrial quality Alpha Wire, should last very very long time) but currently no time to re-cable mine yet... blush.gif

sennheiser hd201

the cable really thin  laugh.gif
The cable I have is about 4.1mm in diameter across (which is roughly the size of my headphone cable), and may not look pretty (grey in color, thus I bought braided sleeve also) plus not as soft like the original (rigid PVC and 24AWG per wire). Not much mentioned about the cable size in that webpage. What was the diameter of the original cable (with the rubber sleeve)? You may have to measure it yourself... hmm.gif

well mine because of cats  shakehead.gif
ahahaa
i never replace cable before  icon_question.gif

At first I though it was the usual rubber degradation issue (seen plenty of them). As for the replacement, cable diameter information (as mentioned above) is required... icon_rolleyes.gif

anybody can tell me where to get quality single conductor cables?
*
Any specifications/requirements, especially outer/external diameter and conductor size (in AWG)? Also what is the cable purpose and/or application? For your information, you could try looking/searching here: RS Components > Cables & Wires > Wire & Single Core Cable, or element14 > Cable, Wire & Assemblies > Wire - Single Conductor... hmm.gif

guess i didn't specify my requirements lol.
well, it's to make a headphone cable, much like the one done by NoobHacker. 8 braid single core cable to be terminated to 4pin xlr and 2 * 3pin mini xlr. 26awg should be enough i guess
not sure about RS, they seem... expensive... and would just prefer the usual audio branded cables such as canare and mogami etc. if i can't find locally, then i am forced to ship it. gonna need a lot since i'm going to use it for other stuff too, such as adaptors and interconnects
*

Can't get (exotic) brands like Canare and Mogami at those sites. The only notable (known audiophile) brands found there are Van Damme, Belden and Gotham... hmm.gif

yeah. very unfortunate. how about other electronics shop though? last time i went to AmCorp, i saw some pretty good stuff like voodoo cable. but then those are probably speaker cables
*
Seems that Mouser and Digikey also do not have those (exotic) brands. Obviously one place you could try looking at is eBay. Alternatively can try using this cable: BELDEN - 83002 010100 - HOOK-UP WIRE, 100FT, 26AWG, CU, BLACK which has silver plated copper conductor core... hmm.gif

i bought a wrong cable (XLR Female to 1/4 inch cable)
i need help from pros here to change the XLR Female to Male
anyone can help me today? icon_question.gif

Some pictures of the original cable may help. Also what is the size (cross-section) of that XLR connector? For your information there are two sizes of XLR connectors, one is the standard XLR and the other is the mini XLR... hmm.gif

Those are inputs. Depends on which input you want to use. Most common on would be the normal RCA (unbalanced) input from most audio equipment. If your audio equipment have XLR output then simply use the XLR input. There are a few shops that caters/specialises audio equipment interconnects in Jalan Pasar (though make sure you bring sufficient funds). Since this is the KRK Rokit 5, then make sure both sides have the same volume (balance) since there are no master volume (as each speaker is independant)... icon_rolleyes.gif
