Hi guys, what's the name of this cable and what is the estimated price per meter for it. And where to get it? Is it available in Pasar Road, which shop if it's there? And do i need to ground it if i'm using it for for diy both iem and headphones? I see that there are four pcs of cable here so i assume that it is 2 for left channel and 2 for right without grounding.

That's the stripped down Canare L-4E6S. It's available in Pasar Road but I'm not sure which shop. I got mine from a friend.

You still need to ground. 2 each channel, 1 for signal and 1 for ground.
The easy way: use blue as ground and white as signal line. Combine the blue lines when you are soldering at the mini jack.

Here is the guide with visual aids http://www.head-fi.org/forum/thread/50729/...-step-with-pics

Thanks. I've always wonder the name of the cable. After doing some research yesterday, i know more about diy cable already. You can put the color of the line in any ways you like right as long as both ends follow the same color?
May i know where to get those plugs (Neutrik, Switchcarft, and a bit cheap one), heatshrink, techflex sleeves (Prefer carbon, grey or black), and cable (Canare L-4E6S)in pasar road? I prefer to get it all in one shop. Please help me, i plan to DIY very soon. And for CAT5e, CAT6 where to get? does branding matters or just strip from unbranded network cable that are available in IT store?
Would a budget of RM100- RM200 able to get a lot of those? Things i need now, recabled my headphone with at least 1.5-1.8M (I'll use CAT6 if can get), short portable interconnect with canare (but i'll buy it in few meters depending on the price), and lot's of plugs (what's the expected price of neutrik and switchcraft in malaysia)

Please help me, i've seen a lot of recomendation to pasar road but without shop name it's very hard to look for as pasar road have so many shop selling electronics.

I don't think you can find any place to test them together. Cat6 is a diy project using ethernet cable the one you connect your modem to computer. Cryo cable can only be done by professional. It's a complicated process. Info http://www.cryo-parts.com/index.php/why-cryo

for a 5.1 speaker system like z906, how big is the difference of the sound when using an analog cable VS a digital cable? I am using creative XFI titanium which actually has optical out, just wanna know whether there will be clear difference if i switch to an optical cable.

if so, can recommend me a good optical cable and where to get it?

I don't think you should spend too much in cabling especially in optical cable because you're speaker and sound card will be the limiting factor. A basic canare will work fine. If you still want to go for optical just stretch as far as your budget don't overdo it.

hey sifu2 what type of cable i need for my darkvoice amp to lappy, 3.5mm - rca right? what is the best type of cable, or nice decent quality, n to make them cables, where cn i find the stuf ie jacks,
*
Canare l4e6s is the most basic one. If you can get l4e6 maybe you can let me know the price and location of getting them. Difference, L4e6s is a mic cable, L4E6 is a speaker cable. The L4E6S i got for RM13 per meter. Some place should sell cheaper maybe you can let me know also if you found cheaper price. For jacks i suggest http://malaysia.rs-online.com/ they have plenty of plugs especially rean gold plated which i can't find in pasar road.

i also can't find any. Try rs online. Rean is a company under neutrik so they are basically the same.

i'm newbie in recable DIY.. not start yet.. i searching for cable but confuse between this two type cable.. my first DIY will be on headset
just want to ask about >

how to diff cat5e and cat6??
and the function of wires in each colour?? can it be used in headset??
*
I think if you get it from the computer shop one won't different much between both coz they are poor quality design. The CAT6 i got is a waste of money coz out of the 8 wires only 4 which can be used because it is made of copper. The other 4 is some type of tin and very hard to solder.( without flux it won't stick coz it won't get hot enough) So half of it have to be thrown away.

For headset i suggest you use canare. Cat5/6 are way too infelixible for such use. They are very stiff compared to canare. The wires doesn't care how you mix and match the colors just as long as both side is connected correctly. (e.g. ground to ground and not to other places)

Hi can anyone tell me the benefit of DIY interconnect cables? The gold / silver / copper jack got a lot of difference?? Any guide to these cables?? Searched head-fi didnt find anything ._.

This case is just only theoritical viewpoint. In reality they won't sound as being said due to various factors such as material, composition (mixture of alloy), quality, cryo treated or not and even plugs play a major different role. Not to forget about tuning by the maker of the cable itself.
The only way to tell is try out yourself either diy or purchase or audition. For now i would said if go for silver or gold try to search for higher awg type coz the price that you pay actually get you lower awg as both this material are way more expensive than copper. Copper can get you better value. It' safe to said that if your get a lower awg silver or gold you might as well better get a copper coz the copper benefit more.

Added on August 19, 2011, 5:19 pmmore2teayap how do you find the square copper compare to the other two that you have at hands? Why is it called square copper?

Nope. I saw it from afar so didn't really notice the internal. Can you PM me the cost of it per Meter from the shop? Oh and it is counted as single core right so have to x3 for ground, left and right each 1 core.

Sorry i mean the price of per meter from the shop is counted base on a single core instead of multicore as in the canare right?
