If you can top up a bit, I strongly recommend you x-ls encore.

You will never regret its natural signature and speedy bass. Perfect for classical and jazz.

The best thing is, it is sold at factory direct price.

Passive, or active/powered speakers? Do you already have a power amplifier? hmm.gif

Then you may want to consider Edifier Studio 7, which is within your price range. hmm.gif

Before you engage in getting a speaker, I believe you must ask to what extend you want to go with this hobby. If you thinking just to get a speaker for you desktop, active speaker will serve you very well and this studio is very good, i heard.

But if you want to go to audiophile level along the road, I suggest you look into a passive ones and get a really good and affordable amp. And you can change and match your setup, which is really fun. Or upgrade to 5.1.

Bear in mind that all active speaker come with build in amp and this does not allow you to change it. BTW, they produce a lot of distortion if you play them loud as they only have a very small amp in it.

Just to share my experience.

Nope, its an active/powered speaker. That means internally has its own integrated audio power amplifier. wink.gif
