I am having an issue with Q990B soundbar linked with Sony A80J TV. Sometimes when I on the TV, the soundbar is on but no sound. I have to switch the sound output from Speaker to TV then back to Speaker. Only then the sound will be back.

Is this a known compatibility issue and if some of you folks who have Q990B soundbar suffers from similar issue? I checked with Sony they ask me check with Samsung and vice versa....

Also this Atmos thing when playing with netflix movies with dolby atmos, I don't hear the effect at all. Even though the speaker lcd display atmos, but I don't find anything special. Only the rear speaker has surround which other 5.1 movies have the same effect. Is it a Sony thing?

How far did you put ur rear speakers away from your seats? Is it okay with put somewhere like 2m behind the seat? (coz no socket nearby the chair)

I am changing my hdmi cable to 2.1 tomorrow to see if got improvement. I only test with netflix movie, after I change the hdmi cable (previously I think 2.0) I will test with youtube content. My rear speaker no issue, it is the so call upward blasting. I don't find anything special. Maybe it could be my ceiling is a bit higher than normal ceiling.

Lately I don't know what settings I change, if the TV outputs those screeching garbage sound (noise?), the speaker plays it very clear and quite irritating. Last time some settings used to filter out such noises. This 990B bass also not strong. Actually to be fair it is the algorithm... the system somehow detects if bass is needed to be emphasized. If I test the youtube bass songs, the bass is punchy. Reddit says the same thing too.

Zzzzzz you are right. This 990B hdmi port is not 2.1 even though eARC.... well wasted money buying the hdmi 2.1 cable, not cheap....

How did you manage to passthrough atmos through USB?

You mean the longer cable for rear speakers? Do you have any links to buy that on Lazada / Shopee?

Got Samsung Q990C from Harvey Norman. Now looking for stand for rear speakers. Hope it’s a wise decision to pair with my Samsung tV.
