Walao..... price YAS108 dropped so much. In mid of May 2019,  I bought below RM833 (after RM25 discount) from Lazada which the cheapest that time. That was before YAS109 launched.
*
The sound from YAS108 is loud and clear without the sub woofers? Planning to get a soundbar with a sub woofer below 1k budget. Salesperson says no point getting soundbars without woofers as won't make big difference. Is this true? hmm.gif

The reason I choose this soundbar which got built in sub woofer is that you can add on sub woofer subsequently if you feel that really need sub woofer. How often you watch movie in your TV? If really need, just buy another sub woofer such as Polk Audio /Yamaha brand etc which can wire connect to YAS108. End up it is better than Yamaha yas-209 in total since YAS108 soundbar drivers is better than YAS209 and YAS209 sub woofer just basic version only.
*
A'ah I see.. good to know we can add on sub woofer to the YAS108 via wired connections should the need arise. Watch movies usually during weekends / PH only. biggrin.gif

Thanks for your comment bruh.. thumbsup.gif

mostly depends on your usage.

(there is series from 107~109, 107 with 1 hdmi, 108 got 2 hdmi, 109?? no idea as i didnt do detail research on it, almost 99% of the review will say 109 > 108 > 107, theoretically yes, but it would best if u go try test urself, i doubted it becoz 3 looks identical, same same je, my guess is like 107 only 1 hdmi, so 108 add on alexa & 2 hdmi, mayb 109 add on extra feature again)
for me i pick yas 108
1. no available 107 stock at that time.  cry.gif
2. dont require subwoofer as my kid is still small, and my house soundproof not that good, if volume too loud kena complain 1.
3. up gradable to connect extra subwoofer in the future, currently budget contraint  doh.gif
4. turn on volume 15 i can feel my window shaking already, yea without the woofer it kinda lack of the punch, but i m very satisfy with it.
5. yamaha home theater app offer a few preset setting, i feels like movie mode is the best for both movie & music  thumbup.gif

currently in hypermood, tonight go back do another of pes2020 1st  rclxm9.gif

yas sound performance @volume 10  = smart samsung nu8000 2.0speaker @volume 15~16
*
Me also using the Samsung NU8000 TV.. thumbup.gif
I miss my good old Sharp UE630X which had Dolby Digital Plus, DTS & TruSurround. Never had to increase volume above 30 thumbup.gif but with the NU8000 usually have to increase until 40-60 cry.gif but video quality definitely a win for the NU8000.

So u connect your YAS108 via Bluetooth or ARC? hmm.gif
Sound output from TV+YAS108 or only from YAS108?

connect via ark.
yas 108 comes with 1 hdmi arc (speaker) + 1 hdmi input (i connect it on tvbox).
i only tested sound output for yas 108 only, yet to test on yas 108 + tv but i reckon yas 108 is more than enough for sound output.

Got my Q950T from TBC at RM 3790 on merdeka day ... XD

Honestly for watching movie, its quite impressing, but for Audio, it cannot even compete at all with my 4 years old LG 7.1 home theater.

But since moving in to condo, so a compact and wireless soundbar is needed. Anyway still a good buy huh... biggrin.gif
*
Yeap... in terms of Audio quality soundbars can never match / equal a home theater system.. Ppl tend to go for soundbars due to space constraint and don't want too many wiring coming in and out... icon_rolleyes.gif

hi guys, i am currently using a NU8000 TV and decided to get a sound bar to improve TV speakers.. With a budget of less than 2k and samsung branded soundbar... Looking at A650 soundbar.. Or is there any other soundbar within the same price range I should be looking at? Mostly using for Astro & TV box.. Prefer dialog + bass type sound bars..

Thanks for your replies in advanced . πŸ™πŸ™

Why don’t you consider Q700 instead. It support Atmos and I think can add in surround as option as well.
*
Thanks mate for the recommendation.. notworthy.gif I will check out the Q700A.. But my NU8000 TV doesn't support eArc thus I believe won't get the Atmos effect right as both sound bar & TV must have this function in order to fully utilize the Dolby Atmos? hmm.gif

Also does having more speakers / drivers makes the sound bar sounds better or it doesn't have any effect on the sound? Coz i see there are some sound bars having 7 - 9 speakers and cost less than 2k. Also the higher power output = more bass? confused.gif

No need bro, you will get Atmos using native Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV on your NU8000
eARC is only important if you play BlueRay disc and passthrough from TV to soundbar if you wanna get lossless Atmos. Otherwise, ARC can transmit lossly signal.
Technically yes, more drivers will drive the sound better.

Can a good Atmos soundbar outperform or at least comparable with a 5.1 Home Theather system?
*
Frm my view, Atmos soundbar with rear speakers cn be slightly better than Atmos soundbar w/o rear speakers but it can't surely trump a true surround 5.1 Home Theatre system. You can surely notice the difference when testing out these 2 setups. Soundbars in general is just an upgrade over TV speakers and suitable for people who don't want too many wiring in and out around the TV area.

What is a good all-in-one soundbar for a budget of RM 2k?

Been looking at the Sony HT-X8500 and Samsung HW-S60A but have still been undecided. Any other glaring options I should consider?
*
Perhaps u cn check out a table comparison of soundbars here: https://www.rtings.com/soundbar/reviews/best/soundbar#conclusion
But if possible you cn test out the soundbar of your choice to know what to expect before your purchase to avoid disappointments later..

I went Harvey Norman to check YAS209, not up to my liking, but the YSP1600 quality is fuller and caught my attention. Upon checking price, it is 2.15k but been 5@6 years old already.

I will check Q700A again and see if it match YSP1600 quality
*
Did u manage to check on the Q700A? I'm planning to get this but can't seem to test it at stores as this model wasn't on display before pulling the trigger.

I pulled my trigger on Q950A, no regrets and my friends are impressed with it as well. They are going to get it also.

I read somewhere theres a new model coming out soon. Just dont waste time on those budget soundbar, initially I wanted to get the highly rated Yamaha YAS209 but turn out when I went harvey norman to test it, even my wife is not impressed, some how some what we check and tested the Q950A and that is the one that makes my jaw drop.
*
A'ah I see... Thanks for the update mate.. thumbup.gif However, as my living room isn't that wide with sofa placed about 8-9 ft from TV thus afraid that Q950A might be an overkill.. sweat.gif

hi guys ... I'm looking to get a soundbar.. Hv shortlisted Q700A (3.1.2) (RM2297) and S40r (5.1) (RM1399). Just tested out both these sound bars in store however seems both sound more or less the same. However, s40r volume needs to be above 60 to hear dialogs clearly but Q700A 30 plus can hear dialogs clear.

Any last piece of advice before i pull the trigger ?

Thanks in advance.. πŸ™πŸ™

Q800b vs q930b. Rtings.com review seems not much difference between them, how about real life?
*
i don't own any of these but i would say there would certainly be a difference when testing out these 2 in real life as we are comparing between a 5.1.2 vs 9.1.4 together with rear speakers system.. plus the price of these 2 is also having a big gap... biggrin.gif

If space / speaker wires running through the hall is not a concern would be best to invest in an actual 5.1 home theatre system as sound bar would never be able to compete with a proper 5.1 or 7.1 system... thumbsup.gif

Just bought Samsung HW-A650, is the SWA-9200S surround speaker compatible with the soundbar?
Watch a reviewer in youtube said compatible but asking 1 more time here just for confirmation
*
Seems HW-A650 is compatible with SWA-9100S rear speakers.. Best to check first before purchasing to avoid wrong compatible rear speaker models..

Thanks and nice price after discount bro... thumbup.gif

Do let us know after reviewing the sound bar.. It's on my shortlist as well since my sofa also close to wall so no point getting the Q930B with the rear speakers... Also 800B is a step up from 800A as 3.1.2 vs 5.1.2 system.. wink.gif
