Audio purist will tell you it doesn't matter, sound bar will never match a full HT setup

But if space and budget is a constrain and you still want to feel some surround effects, get a system which comes with or at least expandable with satellite speakers. A single bar is not gonna give you that surround effect

this i understand... my personal hobby/ gaming room is quite small.. from TV to door in a straight line about 11ft only.

if comes with satellite speaker, i'm considering LG SN11R, old model but found a good price.

This is true.  I’ve just moved from a very old  AVR 5.1 setup, to Sony HT-A7000, and the difference is quite obvious.  But I already knew what to expect, so it was a managed expectation.  I just need very decent centre for dialogue, and the HT-A7000 delivers.

you have one of the best sound bars in the market now, i think you just need to add a sub and a pair of satellites for its full potential

can go for the sonos beam gen 2 or Q800C, both are expendable systems. Sonos you can add sub and satellites later and Q800C you can add satellites

but if you ask me bang for buck wise I would go for Q800C, it already comes with a sub. you just need to add on the satellites later if needed which doesn't cost much (rm600+/- iinm)

Sonos have slightly better sound quality but adding the components (sub + satellites) can drive the cost up a lot. they are not cheap

are you using those soundbars for gaming or watching movies? Make sure to do a bit of research if those models got dolby atmos audio delay when gaming.

I am using cheap entry 2021 Samsung Q600A with my LG CX and I get very noticeable audio delay on my Series X when Dolby Atmos is turned on. I know at least a person with 2020 Q950T does the same thing also. Watching movies then no problem.

probably direct connect with HDMI would be better than wireless?

i would mainly use for gaming... movies would be secondary. i'm still hesitating which to get. but of course there are some great soundbar that are out of my budget like the sony ht a7000, sonos arc, bose soundbar.

Since i'm using LG C1, i'm wondering to get back LG also for better performance , i'm eyeing on a 2nd hand LG SN11R

i dont think you get any additional benefits from pairing a LG sound bar to your LG TV, if there's any its also negligible. There's a feature similar to Samsung Q Symphony that utilise your TV speaker as centre channel call WOW Ochestra but its only limited to 2022 models and later (C2 >)

LG sound bars even the flagship models generally dont fare that well in reviews.... as opposed to Samsung's Q series which is one of the better ones in the market. I believe the fact Samsung owns Harman contributed to this.

I am using the soundbar via HDMI eARC with LG CX, added 2 rear wireless speakers and still very lackluster to be honest.

The upfiring atmos speakers will only work well if you have a low and flat ceiling.

Like the others mentioned, soundbar will never beat full HT setup so just get a decent range should be okay. I think Q800C is good enough for your room.

Toying between Samsung Q800C vs LG S90QY, LG is cheaper by a couple of hundred ringgits. Anyone here got experience with both of this?

Thanks

As per rting,
The Samsung HW-Q800C is better than the LG S90QY. The Samsung soundbar has a more neutral sound out-of-the-box, which is more suitable for some listeners. It also has a graphic EQ, which gives you more control over its sound compared to the LG. Plus, it's better built.

Thanks for the replies. Yes I have read through the rtings.com comparison but would like to hear the opinions from the actual users as well biggrin.gif

BTW went to HN to try out the speakers, in general they feel good on movies but in term of music it's only average. Then the sales poison me with the JBL Bar 800 which I found that it's much better than both the Q800C and S90QY. But since I don't need the rear speakers, not sure if JBL Bar 500 will also be a good option?

Else I'm also considering Sony G700 on the lower end. Haven't got a chance to hear this yet, but they have the demo S400 which I feel is quite good at below 1k budget. So I guess the G700 will be better than S400?

Suggest me soundbar with these priorities (in sequence)

1) Budget max RM3k
2) Surround sound (prefer no satellite speakers, if a must must not have any cord attached)
3) Include x.1.2 or more channels
4) Crisp > Bass
5) Dolby Atmos
6) DTS

Thanks!🙏

Sony A7000 or Q990C/Q990D better?

Reason to consider A7000 because i have X90J TV.

overall package its very hard to beat the Q990 because it comes with subwoofer and satellites as well

you can get subs and satellites seperately for A7000 but its going to be very expensive considering the bar itself is already more expensive than Q990

only consider the A7000 if you want to use Sony's acoustic centre sync with your bravia, which is probably a negligible improvement. and also if you want your whole HT setup to be Sony only. Some people OCD cannot accept Sony TV plugged into Samsung soundbar and vice versa biggrin.gif

I got Q990D paired with my 65" Hisense U7G. First time to get in sound bar area, but I am deeply get impressed and blown away by this sound bar performance! Cinematic surround sound, good solid bass punch and the clarity sound. I am very enjoying to watch those 4K Dolby atmos movies from Netflix through this sound bar Q990D!

After so many years of using Q950T (2020), the sub-woofer random disconnection issue still there but the happening times has decreased.

Samsung macam no more release firmware update for this model
