Dear all,
I have tight budget and I plan to get a good and reliable 4x4 car that not more then 35k, n I Oso look not too old car (prefer not more then 10yrs) and still able to get loan.
Therefore I come across the second hand Kia Sorento, it is selling reasonable low and most important it has what I want and under my budget too.
Just wonder any comment on this car about:
1) reliability?
2) FC
3) spare part
4) comfort for daily drive to work and occasional go off road?
5) any good/specialist work shop for this car?
6) any thing that I need to check b4 buying this car?
7) Etc...
Hope any one can give a usable comment and for some have drive it b4 can let me know the pros and cons about this car.

It's the cheapest SUV you can buy because it's grossly underrated. Malaysian drivers don't want to look at it because it has a truck-like ladder frame and therefore drives like a 4x4 pick-up, but as a result you can pick up one registered in 2008-2010 for around RM30k or under.
1) It's a diesel. It's more bombproof than a petrol engine.
2) Fuel tank is 80 litres, I get around 700km out of it. Not bad for a 2-ton monster.
3) Hasn't broken down on me yet. So far the oil filter is around RM50, the diesel filter is under RM100.
4) Drives fine for me. Suspension is noticeably soft, but stiffer IMP shocks solved that.
5) Don't know of any specialist.
6) Despite the cheap price, you're actually getting an AWD car with a torque-on-demand system. Unfortunately many owners don't know how it works, much less how to take care of it. As a result, a lot of these nice diesel Sorentos have wrecked 4WD transfer cases. Look under the front differential to see if the front propshaft is missing. Look for mismatched tyres or rear tyres worn more than the front, put the transmission in N press the brake and turn the 4x4 LO switch - listen for a clunk and watch if the ABS warning lights up.
Look for 2008-2010 Sorentos - they're the last turbodiesel Sorentos coz XM and later models are all petrol only. Novus editions are a plus - fugly nose job but comes with automatical folding mirrors, awesome cruise control and built-in turbo-timer. Stock speakers includes component front speakers and they actually sound pretty damn good for factory items!
Oh.... there are four... yes FOUR... 12v sockets in this car. Standard sunroof, leather seats and 8-way adjustable fully powered front driver's seats complete the deal.
I love this car. Humungous rear legroom, great for relaxed highway cruising. That wicked 2.5 turbo CRDI will casually haul 4 passengers up Genting in 3rd & 4th gear. LOL!!
Biggest bang for the buck around, yet nobody cares.
