Breakfast - not enuf protein. HL Milk is junk milk, serve no purpose
Lunch - why eat chicken wing? It has very low protein and sausages too
Tea - not enuf protein
Post workout - too little protein
Dinner - eat 1 type of protein food at a time for better digestion and assimilation
Supper - you don't need so much carbo before bed time.

QUOTE(Kyoyagami @ Jun 4 2008, 09:07 AM)
In reality, I'm not sure about the oats thing being true, but my belief is that it does help lower down cholesterol. I think that compensates for some choleterol crap that is being circulated around with eggs.

Another thing for me, my diet is terrible, because my mother controls it. Its sad when a 20 year old guy still couldn't choose what he wants to eat best. My gf on the other hand is supportive though.
*
hey kyo, to reassure you that the whole cholesterol thing is a myth, check out this link:

http://www.chelationtherapyonline.com/articles/p72.htm

it's definitely true, my father has a few heart artery blockages and it has nothing to do with cholesterol. he has been reading books ever since his bypass surgery and confirmed that cholesterol is not the cause of his heart condition; if anything, more towards lack of certain vitamins but I won't go into detail. You can read the rest from the link but it's pretty long, so it's up to you if you wanna read till the end smile.gif

Why does your mother control your diet? Try reasoning with her that you're not feeling comfortable with your current physique and you have the knowledge and tools to make improvements. Or if really cannot smuggle food into your room la laugh.gif or keep a secret food stash at your gf's place. I'm assuming that your mom controls your basic 3 meals; bfast lunch dinner right? If that's the case I'm sure you can find a way to eat what you want in between meals outside the house. Anyway, good luck with your fitness goals. Cheers smile.gif

But i'm lucky enough to eat 6 times a day though. Its just, the quality isn't there.

hmm? if u're working outside, then you can get the meals you want wat. your mom can't control you outside of the house right? she can only control you when you're at home, so go out when u want to eat biggrin.gif food courts are bb's best friends when on the move.

Are there any stores or marts that sell egg whites? I have been looking around and am yet to find one. It makes life really really easy.

you can look for protein powders made solely from egg whites. but i don't know why you would want to do that. just eat whole eggs

fugu, view the link i posted for kyo above. and read the past posts. egg yolk definitely does not make you fat. rice does smile.gif

edit: if you're lazy to read, basically the medical world has created this myth that cholesterol is bad for your health and falsely associated cholesterol with coronary heart disease, so the public will buy their billion dollar industrial drug, Lipitor. Go pharmacy and check. fact: our body produces 80% of the total cholesterol in our system. Also, the less cholesterol we eat, the more our body produces to compromise (since cholesterol is essential for our body to function) and the more we eat, the less our body produces. High cholesterol is a condition, not a disease. Heart disease is.

abt fat, read the posts posted by 4Rings. Athletes often opt for a high fat, high protein, zero or low carb diet esp precontest to lose as much fat as possible. There's even an e-book about it. Here's the link:

http://www.scivationbooks.com/chadiet.htm

read the article in the link in the past posts above for further info. my father had a bypass few years ago, he's been researching about it ever since.

I'm not a professional, but this is what I've learnt through online research and logical interpretation. Please correct me if I'm wrong. I hope I have provided some insight to some. Cheers smile.gif

fugu, as I mentioned earlier, the public + professional medicine have been brainwashed to believe certain myths. Some are debatable, but some are undoubtedly false. Why? Because medicine is a very huge industry; particularly the drug industry. To make $$, people must buy drugs. For people to buy drugs, people must believe that it works. To believe that it works, they create the myths (i.e. high cholesterol crap) and then prescribe cholesterol reducing medication (i.e. Lipitor). At least that's what I believe in.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but your statement on whey has nothing to do with anything. We all know that whey has mainly whey and nothing else.

I agree with you when you say that every individual reacts differently (eg. grapefruit and allergies). But then again, I still believe (via thorough alternative research) that the main cause of coronary heart disease is not high cholesterol. Besides, as i mentioned earlier, cholesterol consumption has very little to do with the cholesterol level in your blood, as your body already produces 80% of it. I understand that you have googled a lot of cholesterol articles stating that it's hazardous to our health, but that sort of info, to me, is considered 'mainstream' and is what the drug industry is trying to persuade people to believe. It's better to believe hard researched evidence from independent parties, rather than from those who are trying to sell us their poison.

Thank you for your insight.

Sorry to reply to such an old post, but gaining weight and gaining muscle are two different animals.  If you just want to gain 5 kgs then go and eat as much rice as you can get hold of, you should be able to gain 5 kg in a month or less, depending on how much you can eat.  If you want to gain 5 kg of muscle, then eating carbs wil not get you there, at all.  Muscle is NOT built from carbs.

Yeah, I had that clarified with some research shortly after posting that. Plus, I was gaining fat around the waistline. Thanks for pointing that out smile.gif I'd already forgot that I posted that.

And thank you for all your myth clarifying posts! This thread definitely needs more contributors like you. Really provided lots of useful info and insight. I didn't know about the vegetarian diet issue though.

Btw, your diet seems to have loads of cream and butter. Wondering if that has any negative health effects due to high saturated fat content etc?

Also, from what I know, carbs is the body's preferred source of energy, so to speak. By cutting carbs out of one's diet, does it affect energy levels during workout/daily activities? Like start to feel sluggish etc?

Thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

You should look for something low in lactose, not low in fat. Lactose is crap.
I understand why you guys waste money on pasteurised/ homegenised milk.
They are all rubbish.
