My filco is finally here

A quick newbie review - the Filco definitely feels much more solid than the QF TK I had previously. Weight is like 3x (but it's 104 keys of course)....

Keycaps (stock of course) have a rougher finish - maybe that'll help reduce duration before it shines......this made a pretty big difference compared to typing on the rubber coated QF TK. The rubber coat adds too much fiction in my opinion....keeps catching your finger - cannot let go.

In terms of how it sounds - the difference is smaller....I probably type a bit less loud on the Filco than the QF TK (both on MX Brown switches). I'm still too hard on the switches though (coz I use rubber domes at work). The tactile bump of the MX Brown is barely felt for me.

As for the style of the stabs, this is what I feel:
Space bar: Costar >>> Cherry - the spacebar is so damn solid on the Filco - it's a bloody joy to hit right now
All other mods: Costar == Cherry. Frankly a little disappointed here. All the Filco mod keys feel as wobbly and as flimsy (and makes the same ringing noise) as the QF TK.

That's from 1 hour of usage....maybe I'll love it more in time....

Thanks for your advice. Just received my CM STORM QUICKFIRE RAPID in the mail today and typing on it now. You're right. I don't need sound dampeners! Looks like I'm the touch typing type who doesn't hammer the keys. So its pretty quiet.

Quick review of CM STORM QFR:

Price = RM265 from lingloong84. Apparently, its on sale. Some other sellers going for RM325. Wonder why QFR can be priced alongside other MKBs that have more bells and whistles.

Heavy for its size. Tenkeyless. Solid build. I like the cable routing system because my workspace is small and the normal Orange CC that I go to has a tiny table. Windows-key deactivation is a nice touch.

Since this is my first MKB, it does feel different (That's the point isn't it?) but it doesn't feel unnatural. It's my first MKB in about... 20 years?

Best part about this keyboard is the size, or lack of it. Not having the numpad makes a big difference to the size. I can imagine coupling the keyboard with my iPad in the field for work and bringing it to my favourite CCs for games at night.

If you guys are in the market for a no frills MKB that is priced below USD100/RM300, then QFR is probably a good choice. But, I believe that the QFR is no longer in production so you better grab what's left now.

then i need to go to the mines first before ordering it. Need to test it first. But, all pro players Dota 2, (majority) are sponsored by razer. They are using blackwidow. Blackwidow is blue switch. I just scared if blue makes me hard in last hitting the creep. Cuz in last hitting u need to constant tap the "S" key. Is it still easy to do that by blue switch?

For me blue to double tap is not an issue. 2mm only to reset so hard meh ?
