QUOTE(Boon3 @ Nov 5 2013, 10:51 AM) Cash account, you can make trades to the equivalent of how much money you put in. "Thought of the day" call POKAI If you put in 200k, you can make trades not more than 200k. ie your trade value cannot be more than the money you have. Contra account? Depending on your broker, you can actually trade more than the money you have. So if you have 200k in your bank, and you don't open a cash account, you can trade more than 200k worth of shares. In this sense, some say cash account not that suitable for contra player. I rather prefer the cash account. I trade/gamble with exactly how much money I got. This is good. If I do contra account... Is this good? Know the risk , only loose that we plan for. |

QUOTE(lynetnonyma @ Nov 9 2013, 07:51 PM) Agreed. Already been bullied by market a couple of times. But we must stand up to the bully for long term benefit. Small capital is a limiting factor . With large capital, you can portion it out so everything does not get stuck. With small capital, I think taking small profits often helps not to get all the money stuck and lose out on other opportunity. Well, we all have to start somewhere.... you very good silent reader......remember everyone....Buy and sell with small profit. Then if price continues to go up, we can always buy and sell again at different levels. I know you would make more profit if you held on from bottom to top and less brokerage etc, but the cash in hand is also important. Time management is also important. Watching the market so not to miss opportunity or not to get stuck, reading market related stuff, following this forum etc etc in addition to daily routines. Must try to cancel out unnecessary noise. Then got BonesCythe cryptic messages and quizzes, and your chart explanations... Then must learn Japanese to follow felixmask with his Yamaha or Suzuki or whatever name chart methods with clouds etc.... Then must follow what duckaton buy and sell so can do the opposite... Then got someone who will say this or that going up, so must quickly go check it out. .. Then must keep eyes open for sharks in the water... Now must try LamethWalk's new trading method. Buy, go bathroom, come back sell. It seems can profit like that... Also spend time on what-ifs and should-haves after seeing the day's chart like an airplane taking off. Sometimes that's good as it makes you be more alert looking out for new opportunity. And the lucky-didn't after seeing the day's chart like a bungy-jump, which helps makes us more careful. All in all, its tiring but fun....!! And it helps to have a bunch of decent and helpful people on this forum... Thanks to all. for FA your must remember other like gark, cherroy, yok70, sky gor..all are also hv pinky unlicensed accountant.... This post has been edited by felixmask: Nov 9 2013, 07:56 PM |

QUOTE(lynetnonyma @ Nov 9 2013, 08:48 PM) Yes, got many others too. Like stocks, cannot cover all... nick name "Investor Personality"The plantation expert gark who is on holiday taking a break from the market.... Then cherroy only comes in when absolutely necessary but I suspect is always reading everything here..... The smoking accountant pinky who more interested in beer than stocks.... And MrLoo who always want to know how many lots you bought.... And ivanau88 who always ready to give BonesCythe a hard time... I better stop before SKY_1809 tells me I'm off-topic.... Just kidding.... Since I reply to your post, felixmask , special mention again for you. You talk about your wife just as much as you talk about stocks.... very dedicated husband.. Many have gone silent or missing. I invite all back to share and make this place even more lively as there seems to be a good mix of characters here. very boring talk about stock....must combine something...Not only learn stock but also how to love wive This post has been edited by felixmask: Nov 9 2013, 09:39 PM |
