just upload the forums file into your webserver, then do some CHMOD settings on the files, then you will be instructed to create a MySQL database and after that, run the forum installer file

Is it the same for free CMS? Just upload and install and config?
As my Uni comp cannot access to folder[restriction], I haven't tried it out... So dunno... tongue.gif

yes, simply upload the files into your site and chmod the relevant directories. Do not anyhow chmod as it might leave a backdoor to hackers.

If you're looking for a good CMS, try joomla or mambo.

Feel free to pm me if you got any questions. smile.gif

Check the guide here: http://docs.simplemachines.org/index.php?b....0;sort=subject
It is to change permissions of files or directories on *nix based machines. Commands and explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chmod
*
shockw@ve, can those files be putted into a folder e.g. Forum?
From the guide it says yes, but how about the install.php?
Should it be in the Forum folder or just upload it?
I got an error that day... doh.gif
