QUOTE(besiegetank @ Oct 25 2013, 08:40 AM) Just got my beta key as well and training to learn how to play/ Any good tips and strategy for beginners? Uncle advice, add me too my ign is besiegetank Few ways to quickly learn the ropes: 1. Play with the AI, get familiar yourself with the game and card mechanics 2. Watch on youtube how some of the Pro players play. Recommended players to watch are Husky, Cripp, TotalBiscuit, Trump, Artosis, Day[9] 3. Read feedback and deck idea from Heartstone's official forum and other sites like hearthstoneplayers.com, www.hearthpwn.com 4. For Arena players, I recommend watch TotalBiscuit's Lord of the Arena series and read Trump's Arena card ranking http://ihearthu.com/trumps-arena-card-rankings/ 5. Go checkout http://www.hearthhead.com/ to read what each card does and read the comments/critics, get a feel how good each card is 6. Mess around with some of the deck ideas, and experiment what works for you or with what cards you have at your disposal 7. Lastly, have fun! |

QUOTE(besiegetank @ Oct 25 2013, 06:56 PM) Thanks for the advice! Is it better to focus on just a few classes or we need to learn all other classes as well? Would suggest play all as you'll get a feel how the different heroes deck play style like and know how to deal with them when other players play against you. This is must do especially Arena where you are given random hero and cards to pick with. Also playing all heroes to level 10 net you free 100 gold as well as all the hero basic cards, so thats an incentive.my battlenet id is besiegetank#1124 For Play mode which you build your own deck, pick hero(s) or deck style you like or best built with the limited cards you have. Your deck should 'flow' meaning all the cards come out easily each turn when and where you want it, and synergy where cards can combo off with each other. Good example I recommend is the hunter deck in the earlier thread. This part you have to focus due to your limited resources (cards and dust) to build the best few decks that suit your play style, in particular early on when you start building you library of cards. |

QUOTE(apihblind @ Oct 27 2013, 01:36 AM) I dunno why but i keep burning my card on my hand fast, always loose at last minute coz only have 1-2 card on my hand and 0 on field. Your situation is called overextending, meaning used up your cards too much and too soon in mid game then jammed up. Video to explain below for your learning/viewing pleasureHS: Don't overextend http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dkbd_HwlFaM HS: Overextending and strategy to conserve cards http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1u-nOnPShiU |

QUOTE(HaRuaN.X @ Oct 28 2013, 09:13 AM) ermm...so far i've played 5 arena, 2x (0-3), 2x (3-3) & 1x (4-3), i'm pretty bad in building deck from random system, maybe due to less exposure of what the cards can do. General ideas for most decks (in Play or Arena)when building a deck, how u guys balance out the spell card and minion card ? 50-50 ratio? and when picking out the spells & minions, is it best to stacks up on the 3 & 4 mana card ? Thank you. 1. Check your deck mana curve, you should have majority 3 or 4 casting cost cards, and half of that for 0-2 and 5+ casting cost, so its like a bell shape. But again depend on deck strategy (e.g. druid can innervate and wild growth, so you can 'afford' more 5-6 casting cost cards) 2. Card advantage is big, so pick cards that draw more cards or have 1 for 2 benefits (e.g. novice engineer, loot hoarder, azure drake etc) 3. Starting hand card selection is a big win/lose factor. Generally you don't want casting cost more than 4 on your first hand draw (unless those are your key combo cards) 4. Always have some AoE (area of effect) spell to wipe the board, such as holy nova, consecrate, twisting nether, etc. This can be game changer in any deck setting. 5. Have 1 or 2 badass finishers (e.g. stormwind champion, ancient of war, etc) in your deck for late game, as you don't want to be drawing a 1/1 card when you could die the next turn. |

QUOTE(I<3LYN @ Oct 28 2013, 07:15 PM) I do not recommend novice engineer if you have to choose between 2/3 or a 3/2 over it though. its a cantrip card, and its agree its abit overrated when you have choices. But for deck building with limited cards or beginners new into this game its pretty decent.I feel like the 1 damage is a waste because it doesn't not kill any of the 2 drops for 2 mana cost. However the card is still okay because it replaces itself by drawing a card... in short i feel the novice engineer is overrated. however i would recommend ppl to go for gnomish inventor because it can be a great finisher for 2~3 drops while still have some hp left after doing so. |

QUOTE(xiaopuyo @ Oct 29 2013, 01:10 PM) if i want Bloodmage Thalnos in my Deck, i would put that card in Rogue or Shaman Class Deck which provide many Offensive Spell Card that it can deal major damage to Minions or Heroes. you know what i meant to deal fast and more damage and end game earlier On its own Thalnos is not an obvious pick for most people but he's a hidden combo gem for any decks running 6 or more spell damage cards. Few times this guy was ignored early on and help me wipe board with starfall later, simply because no one cares for a 1/1 plus killing it give you a card advantage (so it replace itself with a new card if killed). Its also a good bait card for those who realise how dangerous this guy is. IMHO a must have for spelldecks builds. |

Bloodlust many times win games for me as all your totems come alive and becomes +3 attack shock troopers ftw. Lightning storm perhaps is the cheapest AoE in the game with 3 costing mana, and the overload is negligible in mid to end game. Good luck! |

QUOTE(I<3LYN @ Oct 29 2013, 06:13 PM) the only scenario i can think of is... lorewalker cho copied the Soul Of The Forest (after bouncing back and forth), and soul of the forest actually can be stacked, meaning that if you cast 2 SoF on a minion, it will summon 2 Treants when it dies. So... i think he casted 4xSoF on the minion you saw. I think lorewalker cho has potential for some crazy stuff, got deck ideas on this ? |
