F1D5 is already a quite an old tire so price might not be as high anymore. My guess is similar price range as the RE003 and cheaper than PS3. Just try to check it out, maybe fit your budget or just stretch a bit only. It is surely way much better than those in your list except probably the new Fleva which is still rather unknown (some reviews pretty good but some also not good).

Looked up Lazada today for GY F1D5. Asking price is between RM 368.80 - 393.00. Not so attractive.

Visited my regular auto shop and got price for Conti CC6 & UC6. UC6 very tempting

(205/55 R16)
(1) Continental UltraContact UC6 - RM320 (Install, Balancing, Alignment)
(2) Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 - RM220 (Install, Balancing, Nitrogen, +RM10 4pcs Alignment)
(3) Yokohama Advan Fleva V701 - RM295
(4) Bridgestone Ecopia EP150 - RM255 (Install, Balancing, Nitrogen, +RM10 4pcs Alignment)
(5) Continental ConfortContact CC6 - RM300 (Install, Balancing, Alignment)

Dropped:
Michelin PS4 - RM400 (Install, Balancing, Nitrogen, +RM10 4pcs Alignment)
Bridgestone Potenza RE003 - RM325 (Install, Balancing, Nitrogen, +RM10 4pcs Alignment

Hmm I'm not sure if Lazada is competitive place to shop for tires. But what I can tell you is UC6 is the 2nd lowest level in the Continental range just above CC6 while F1D5 is the 2nd highest level of Goodyear range almost level with F1A2, so F1D5 is way much better/much higher class than UC6. My previous tire was this F1D5 and pushing the tires to their limits very often and they did not disappoint me, they served me well right until the threads were almost the minimum level and I was still taking them past 200kph with confidence.

That's an interesting testimony. I'll lookup GY dealers and see how much they can offer.

you have to know what you actually want: high performance ? or comfort and Silent ?

i noticed most forumer will introduce good tyres = performance tyres, if you are looking for comfort and silent, you will make wrong decision by following the advice.

like me, i prefer comfort and silent over performance, so my good tyres = comfort and silent tyres.

2 different things.

my experience in tyre searching and advice, must be very precise in what is the rid quality that you are looking for.

just my fair and sincere advice.

He mentioned that the first choice was PS3 but no budget for it, so I recommended him the closest one to PS3 in terms of performance and also comfort plus noise (PS3 is generally regarded as already comfortable but not as silent), but a bit cheaper which is the F1D5.

If prefer performance: PS4 is a sure bet. Will not go wrong with this tyre.

If prefer comfort: 3ST should be one of the best choice, V551 also one of the best (but very hard to find in case tyre burst need replacement).

Performance is always desirable. If I can have the best of both worlds it'll be perfect. I'm sure you can't go wrong with tyres like PS4 or CPC5. However, price is always a limiting factor (for me).

The GY F1D5 is no longer available, they offered me NCT5 RM360/pc instead, kinda pricey.

Then I stumbled upon Viking PT5. HP tyre from CTM group at a Very attractive price.

(205/55 R16)
(1) Viking ProTech PT5 - RM220 (Install, Balancing)
(2) Continental UltraContact UC6 - RM320 (Install, Balancing, Alignment)
(2) Hankook Ventus V2 Concept 2 - RM220 (Install, Balancing, Nitrogen, +RM10 4pcs Alignment)

If willing to spend actually there are some high performance tires which also offer about similar comfort and silence for example F1A2/3, Yokohama Advan Fleva, and the upcoming Continental CPC6. Even PS4 is relatively comfortable already while offering outstanding performance, more than acceptable trade off IMHO (coz again as I said many times, comfort and silence would not help you improve the handling of your car and safety). Tire technology keeps evolving so the trade off gets smaller and smaller but you need to be willing to spend for that advancement in tire technology.

F1D5 is still available, and still actively promoted/advertised in the Goodyear Malaysia facebook so should still be able to get it. Maybe just the shops you visit do not have them hence they just simply tell no longer available coz they want to sell what they have in stock. Better check directly to GY Malaysia if they really don't have anymore for your size. FYI NCT5 is actually about as old model as the F1D5, and it's lower level than F1D5.

Viking is sub brand of Continental Malaysia to produce low end tires so yeah, like that lor, you should know what to expect! biggrin.gif

3st - very silent . soft compound . thread wear 240. meaning sidewall is also soft and wear off is faster. excellent for highway use.
price base on lazada, cc6 is cheaper by 10%. cc6 is the entry level where 3st is premiun grade.
xm2 is michelin entry level, harder sidewall, rm 20 cheaper

Dear Forumers,

I am currently using XM2. it's very impressive with the LONG mileages I'm using it.
But it's a bit noisy. Sometimes (rarely actually) lose grip during wet weather.

Do you think Conti CC6 is much more Comfort \ Grip \ Noise \ Mileage than XM2??

185\55\R15
XM2 >> RM220 (include B & A , exclude GST) , it's reasonable or cheap ?
