Hello all sifus I am having problems with connecting my Maxis Mifi Modem to my newly bought ASUS RT-N66U wireless router. After reading all tutorials and guides around the internet, I am still unable to make my Maxis mifi modem work with my router. Based on one of the youtube video tutorial, the process is as simple as inserting the 3G USB and the router detect it immediately. But for my case the router indicated that WAN connection is not available and I am force to use WAN connection when my intention is to use 3G USB. My router detected the Modem to be ZTE technologies. By the way the model of the modem is ZTE MF60. I have tried inserting all sorts of username and password but still not working. On the link below is the USB setup page by the router USB Setup pageI have contacted Maxis and 'they' route me to India customer service center which is not very helpful. I tried consulting maxis technical center but the procedure they provided are not clear. So I hope all sifus around whom have dealt with this situation to aid me in this situation. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.

a mifi modem and a 3g modem are two different products 3G modem has a much simpler structure and will simply connect to the 3G network, and feed internet through its USB port, hence routers can absorb this internet feed and share it via wifi + ethernet ports. mifi modem has everything built in including wifi AP, something like a mini router. it will have firmware to control everything from connection to internet sharing, and might not facilitate communicating with another external router you can still attempt to extend this wifi network with the asus router via WDS http://support.asus.com/FAQ/Detail.aspx?SL...6U+%28VER.B1%29gl!

Thank you for the reply.
So does this means if I get a 3G USB modem and plug into the USB port of the router, the router will detect the 3G USB without problems?

QUOTE(hkoX @ Oct 24 2013, 10:34 AM) Any recommendation on any third party ASUS modem that uses sim card? Huawei rules the roost when it comes to 3G modems, Asus simply complement them by including 3g support on their routers Ask Maxis if they are able to downgrade the mifi to a 3g modem something like this http://www.lelong.com.my/huawei-e1762-7-2m...7-01-Sale-I.htmplenty of sellers here https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=Sear...=maxis+3g+modemThis post has been edited by h@ksam: Oct 24 2013, 10:45 AM
