BTW, just asking around. Banking AVPs are equivalent to assistant manager isn't it?
*
As a rule of thumb, just replace VP with Manager and you're pretty much in the ball park in terms of cross referencing to non-bank MNCs.

AVP - AM
VP - M
SVP - SM
Dir - Dir
MD - Snr Dir
"Head of"... something significant (ie. not kuchifart) like Cards, or Private/Consumer/Business Banking - VP

How you become your manager's manager? Your boss's boss? Should be managing a group of managers right?
Titles in banks are meaningless for now. When I joined fresh from school, my title was assistant manager, so much different from the job scope of assistant manager now. Job is to oversee the department for my boss who only come in once or twice a month. 30+ people, some AVPs and some VPs.

Banks in the old days will come out and grab those high performing people and start grooming them in a different way than normal employees. You will notice a different job opportunities. For fresh grads, they look for scholars/medalists, once you are scholars then the corporate ladder become a lift, with lift operator inside asking you which floor. Some titles are created for interim position. I was "parachuted" into the dept, no assistant manager position exist before that. They are preparing for the take over of my boss's position for me, so the temporary title and the position disappear after my promotion. 5 years bond, NCC for 6 months, but hefty sign on bonus rclxm9.gif .

Hi senior forumers,

I have a question im being offered a job in sg and now in the midst of applying for a E pass... i lost my degree graduation certificate the english version... But i still have the malay version... This is what information i read on MOM SG's website

"supporting documents which are not in English should be submitted together with an official English translation. Both documents must be scanned and uploaded as one file."

this is the link : http://www.mom.gov.sg/foreign-manpower/pas...es/default.aspx

Can it be applied to my degree graduation cert? I have called my university and the procedures are :

1) Lodge police report
2) Goes to university portal and pay RM100
3) Wait for max 1 month to get the cert

:'(....

Your degree cert is one of the supporting document. Some MOM officer might close one eye to accept Malay version of cert but don't take the risk.

It's faster if you get it translated than getting a new one from your University. But you still need to get the new one.

I wouldn't bet on that if I were you. When I did my pass, I overheard this MOM lady literally scolding this PRC man about his Chinese signature.

She was like "This is SINGAPORE. Everything you write on official paper should be in English. Do you think I can read this (she's not chinese..but it was his signature)?"

Never know when you're gonna get someone with pms attending you.

Certificates written in Malay from Malaysia are accepted by government bodies in Singapore. It's all about your employer. Singapore and Malaysia used to be the same country and they accept all out documents that are written in Malay.

Toa payoh condo unit, in between braddell and toa payoh mrt station. Most people dont like to share due to no privacy.

You must earn a substantial amount to be looking for a condo room. Hope renting it doesnt break the general rule of rental expenditure which is around 30% of your gross salary.

I generally find its an inconvenience to have my transcript in malay since if i were to approach an overseas employer, they have no heads or tail to make of the cert or documentation. Even singaporean firms now may accept it but they dont particularly like it and will choose the person whose certs are in english.

I usually find this is a prob for vocational applications from malaysia whereby the vocational schools cert for the most part are in malay, i had to re do my safety officer course by a UK body since most overseas and even singaporean companies dont recognize or even acknowledge malaysians safety cert even though the syllabus is very similiar.
