hi all..
Currently i have an offering from MNC bank in SG to work for them.
It's a big decision, since i need to downgrade and become Sys Admin. The salary is ok but need to work on shift plus every weekend.

Can i survive with 8k salary in SG?, as im not a PR & there no CPF.
Or should i move near J.B?
*
this is the killer. A lot of people do not like to work on weekends.

Hi, NoiZy

This may be a silly question, but I keep seeing this AWS (Average Annual Working Schedule Supplement?) abbreviation and I'm wondering why they call it as that because it seems to me like it's just a month's bonus. Is it some American term or it's actually not the same as contractual bonus?

Thanks!
*
American companies pays weekly but most Asian companies pays monthly. So American companies use the extra 4 weeks AWS to cover the shortfall. Not a bonus.

I'm still a little bit confused here. Every 90 days, so from 1/1-31/3, it's 90 days there. I can stay for 60 days within this period, right?
Since 1/1-31/3 is a 90 day cycle, doesn't the new cycle start on 1/4, which means i can stay for another 60 days from 1/4-29/6?
*
It's a day shifting 90 days calculation i guess. There isn't any specific cycle. Means in any 90 days period, you can't stay more than 60days.

for example from;

01/01/14 ---> 01/04/14
02/01/14 ---> 02/04/14
03/01/14 ---> 03/04/14

so for and so on ....

Hey, got a quick question here. I have applied for a job through an recruitment agency with an expected salary of X but I didn't know that the job involves a 12 hours working shift until they revert back to me and asked me if I'm okay with this. Do you think if it's okay or possible if I ask for a little more in expected salary? Since I didn't know about this earlier.
*
of coz it's possible to ask for a bit more. Do it earlier if you really intend to do so. It is also possible they won't entertain your request. Might be due to the salary they offered is for 12 hours shift work. I know a lot of ppl who is working shift have shift allowance. I used to be on shift and our shift allowance is somewhere near S$1k.
Most Singaporeans hate shift work by the way.
