QUOTE(ndragon @ Feb 10 2014, 10:59 AM) i salute the ppl who travel back n forth from JB to sg to work... not if u travel in at 6am and out at 3pm... 30 minutes each time only it takes up most of their time.. so i think basically it means very little time to ownself... but mainly its because they are from jb.. so prefer to stay at home... n could save some from the expensive rental in sg... QUOTE(Zenith Lim @ Feb 10 2014, 11:56 AM) Hey guys, can I know how u guys normally find a job in Sg? try harder... I've tried jobstreet, but so far there's no reply. QUOTE(james66 @ Feb 10 2014, 09:45 PM) sg also got wat.. QUOTE(Sammyking @ Feb 10 2014, 09:58 PM) If you're right then my company should be paying according to the current market rate that has been complied and published by MOM. So, am I not right to say that the HR should pay according to the wage range published by MOM, which was based on the average wage range of companies, assuming they are statistically significant ? in b4 ur HR point towards bangla payscale and say that's where u r |

QUOTE(lepakboy @ Feb 11 2014, 12:03 AM) I have a question about pay. i think shock because u put lower than $4.8k... I currently earn around RM 4,800 not including benefits. I'm seriously contemplating a move to Singapore. However when I set a considerate SGD4,000 negotiable (This is to ensure a Q1 pass), most companies get a little shocked. Do Malaysians have to sacrifice a pay cut in order to get a working permit? Or are we just seen as cheap labour to them? THe salary range I picked from is actually below market value for a Advertising Executive with over 6 years experience. Lowyat Guru, please advise |

QUOTE(FollowN @ Feb 26 2014, 12:10 AM) I was in your shoes 2 1/2 years ago. Some facts about myself: 1) MY citizen 2) AU fresh graduate, not from a Go8 3) Not SG PR 4) Invited to undertake the honours year program 5) Applied to SG positions with MY phone number & address (run of the mill resume - nothing outstanding) - received few calls, 2 interviews 6) Sought help from some people here (but was rightfully ignored because I wasn't doing enough for myself) and attempted multiple routes e.g. tourist visa + local newspaper, job boards etc. Not a lot of developments until I refined my resume (this includes understanding the mechanics of the headhunting process e.g. what drives a headhunter/hiring manager/HR, what turns him/her off, what sort of dialing tone he/she receives if I'm overseas/or in SG etc) & repackaged myself (and applied for very niche roles) - I accentuated the fact that I had some personal but substantial money-making stuff (that was directly relevant to the jobs I was applying for) going on during my university years, my nationality and the languages I speak. The latter strategy is a particularly important one because SG is a regional hub for many companies. Like many of our compatriots, I used to think that the Malay language was an absolutely useless language with no economic value but I came to realise that in this rapidly growing part of the world, the Malay Archipelago, half of us (that's roughly 300m people) speak Malay, be it Bahasa Malaysia, Bahasa Indonesia or others. Others are picking up Mandarin because it's the Chinese century but I figured if I were to follow the herd, I'd be extremely below average especially in a country where cabbies hold Stanford degrees etc. I struck gold with these two changes and landed quite a few interviews. The rest as they say is history. I applied two very useful mantras to my job search process: 1) Forget about what the doom mongers say. Sure the SG gov tightened some laws, but chances are the statistics these doom mongers peddle are irrelevant because of their macro nature. You'll still be able to find a couple of rapidly growing segments within mature industries. Or sunrise industries. 2) Simple but effective advice - get a game plan and differentiate yourself. Good luck! QUOTE(blueworm @ Feb 26 2014, 07:48 AM) I'm not agent, just one of the hse tenant, no agent fees required, we just need someone to occupied the master room for continuing our new contract. might contact you soon o/b of frenQUOTE(studyboy @ Feb 26 2014, 10:48 PM) yeaps.. starhub no good but economical if u can hubclub it... |

QUOTE(Fiona Chin @ Mar 7 2014, 11:25 AM) Chap fan is around 3 to 3.50, chap noodles around 2 to 2.50. Go do your maths. With 2k you will have a hard time in SG, but still can save depending on your lifestyle. Don't come if you don't see your salary will raise substantially in few years time. You won't be so lucky to be free of commitment for long. SG gets expensive the older you grow. dont forget it gets exp when u have family too QUOTE(mDinie @ Mar 7 2014, 12:01 PM) I am planning to start over in Sgpore soon.
