if they change from 5% to 1%, i hope that they will lift up the current maximum rebate capped from RM50 to unlimited..  thumbup.gif

meaning no longer good for ppl who shop wisely...
meant for ppl who can shop in excess of RM5k to take advantge of the "unlimited" feature...

for those who plan to milk this card until the last minute, u can pay your bill in advance to take advantage of the 5% although u havent got your bill yet, just to max the RM50 for one last time...

people, i just spoke with OCBC CS.

the RM50 rebate per month is pro-rated, so it's unlikely to max out with only 5% rebate catergories unless ur statement date is on 29th.

for example, the statement date is 14th (half a mth to 29th), the max rebate can get from 5% is only RM25. For the rest, you need to spend 2.5k to get 1% rebate after that day.
*
stingy to the max. technically the rebate will just be 2-2.5% until 29th if the statement is middle of the month

QUOTE(guy3288 @ Nov 14 2013, 08:52 AM)
just called the CS named Thiru. He told me it is CB prorated , and i asked him  by giving him example. Then he put me on hold, went checking and came back with this:

i told him, my statement date 11.11.2013, if i spend RM1000 for 5% on 28.11.13, would i get CB RM50 in my statement dated 11.12.13?

He said most likely not, becos posted date after 29.11.13 would only get 1%.unlimited 1% for everything icluding govt payment, insurance etc.

He told me to get  the 5% i must  spend the RM1000 well before the last date of 29.11.13. That means if i spend RM1000 on 15.11.13, sure get posted date before 29.11.13 and this i can get MAX RM50! This is not the same as the info  posted above.

And he said in my coming statement dated 11.12.13 i can get total CB more than the max RM50 ,  as all transactions posted after 29.11.13 is entitled for the unlimited 1% CB.

please you guys go confirm further and quote that Mr Thiru where i called at 8.40Am at 1 300 88 5000

thanks for the info, this sounds more logical to me.

whether or not u spend within your means usually, it's good to max out the rm50 rebate from 5% especially paying bills that are not accepted by AMEX. rebate like this don't come very often. so max it out while u still can.

if I remember correctly it's the posting date that counts. given usually ocbc is slow in posting transactions, it's wise to spend by 26th or earlier to take advantage of the 5% rebate.

but i thought normally their R&R should be based by time and date? So let's say its 29th so any transaction before that will still be based on 5%? No?
*
like i said I THINK it's based on posting date. not transaction date. up to u to take the risk.

mr chow should be sacked from the increase in card cancellation which means his points are way off what we actually need.

that letter is so confusing (or that, I am dumb).

it fails to explain the alleged benefits that the new card has.

so my qs are:
1. does that mean we will be entitled to RM50 for 5% and 1% unlimited?
2. do we need to call for an upgrade or it is an automatic thing

read again?

kinda try to tie ppl up, avoiding ppl from canceling the card for the gst issue... interesting...

and also only 30k budget, ie aiming for 600-1k ppl... not a big crowd, highly likely budget will finish before the end of promo period...

When the time I know the news (no more 5% rebate) on Nov, I quickly called to the CS and ask them my annual usage amount is it entitled to get  GST waiver..

The CS replied yes.. But after when I received my DEC statement, I saw there is RM50 GST charged on my bill..
So I called to the CS and ask them why previous CS said I am entitled for GST waiver.
CS said this GST waiver end on 29 NOV d and my card anniversary is on DEC.

So I keep asking CS help me waive GST.
Luckily they really help me fight for it...
*
i can only assume that the date they charged gst on u was pretty close to 29th nov, which is why probably they "close one eye" for your case...

What he meant that if you're really want to set it to RM 1. You have to do it via CS or other methods.

From Citibank online, you can only set to the lowest of MYR 201.

most ppl cancel it bcoz of the gst, otherwise, it's a good card.
