QUOTE(timing @ Nov 11 2013, 10:16 AM) From what I understood, the GST is imposed once the card is approved, yes.But if there is no active transaction done on the card, basically it can be canceled without having to pay the GST. The same applies for existing card - as long as there is no active transaction on the anniversary month, the GST can be waived if the card is canceled. You might want to call up the CS and double confirm. |

Sounds like an incredibly good news for other competitors such as Wise, Watami and M2U Amex.

QUOTE(timing @ Nov 11 2013, 10:16 AM) Call CS to cancel the card. If you are being charged RM 50 GST, go and argue with them that when you sign up, the ONLY reason you want the card is because that you are interested with the 5% rebate. Now since that the 5% is gone, you feel that you are being cheated and want to cancel ASAP. Make sure you don't swipe anything or you have no more ground to argue. |

QUOTE(Jason @ Nov 11 2013, 06:30 PM) Or maybe OCBC is dying because everybody is maxing out the 5% rebate and they are making a loss? We wouldn't know for sure. But yup, my OCBC Titanium is going into cold storage next to my SCB cards. They won't die that easily. They used to be the strongest bank in the world. Now is 2nd place I guess! |

Beginning 29 November 2013, all benefits and privileges attached to the Credit Cards listed
below will be removed and replaced by the corresponding new features. Titanium Card FREE for Life. 1% rebate on total retail spending. Listed below will be removed, does it means remove 5%? I am guessing removing the 1% rebate. I am a little confuse here. This post has been edited by Sone Shin: Nov 11 2013, 09:04 PM |

QUOTE(lamode @ Nov 11 2013, 08:02 PM) It's probably they are losing $$$ in the 5% rebate program, many taikor squeeze to max and pay on time, thats why they cutting the loss now. Cash Rebate card not a high earning product for bank, bank charge merchant fee is about 1.5-2%but instead of cutting 5% rebate, why not just add on 0.5% unlimited rebate to all spending except petrol, dining, groceries and utility bills? I'm the 1st will switch all my spending to this card, easy for me to manage I saw some ppl start booming at their FB wall d, hope more ppl will comment there, at least let other card members know about it. |

Banks hope people default so they can charge sky high interest on outstanding balance. I guess people who are smart enough to choose OCBC in the first place and max out RM50 per month won't be stupid at the same time to have outstanding balance.QUOTE(The Avengers @ Nov 11 2013, 09:22 PM) Fridge not cold enough, try the freezer haha QUOTE(Sone Shin @ Nov 11 2013, 09:28 PM) As above, use the freezer! QUOTE(The Avengers @ Nov 11 2013, 09:29 PM) Cash Rebate card not a high earning product for bank, bank charge merchant fee is about 1.5-2% I think its cause the 5% is really significant, especially for petrol. Maybank 2 AMEX is only weekend, too troublesome for most people. OCBC Titanium was a good all-round card.but instead of cutting 5% rebate, why not just add on 0.5% unlimited rebate to all spending except petrol, dining, groceries and utility bills? I'm the 1st will switch all my spending to this card, easy for me to manage I saw some ppl start booming at their FB wall d, hope more ppl will comment there, at least let other card members know about it. So who's going over to the UOB One camp? I know I am. |
