kinda try to tie ppl up, avoiding ppl from canceling the card for the gst issue... interesting...

and also only 30k budget, ie aiming for 600-1k ppl... not a big crowd, highly likely budget will finish before the end of promo period...

Yes. MBB2 is only for 5% weekend rebate on anything with t & c / cap RM50. Aeon Watami just for 3% weekday rebate on anything with t & c / cap quarter RM150. Just sharing, this is best combine.

notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif  notworthy.gif Thank you bro for the the info on how one can maximize cash back with AEON Watami and Titanium Combo.

In my article Effective Cash Back of Credit Cards, I have shown that with RM5K/month spending, one can earn up RM1,033.60 per year in total equivalent cash back after deducting RM50 GST with the Alliance Bank Plat. So the effective cash back from Alliance Bank with RM5K/month spending works out to be approximately RM86 after deducting GST versus RM83 for the AEON Watami and OCBC TMC Combo you mentioned above which has yet to deduct RM100 GST.

Hi Sifu. just wanted to add that if someone spends say RM1,667 per month using the AEON Watami Card, annually it would be RM20,000. You can still use the 20,000 points to redeem up to RM80 in AEON Cash Vouchers. Would this change the equation cos from my own calculation using AEON Watami (RM1,667) and Alliance (RM3,667) is higher than charging RM5K to just the Alliance.

very sneaky ah OCBC, my card gonna expire Feb 2014. The SMS I received today. Cashback 5% will only be shown 6-8 weeks, meaning I still have to pay GST of RM50 la. I think I will still cancel the card la. Rebate RM50 (5%) + RM10 (1%) = RM60 - GST RM50 = RM10. Not worth it !

Yah Bro, I also check out briefly the AEON Watami only today and YES, I noted it is a hybrid like MBB 2 AMEX where it also earn the cardholder reward points and cash back thumbup.gif

I am planning as a Christmas present to my readers, I am thinking of analyzing and comparing how to maximize cash back for different spending pattern for those who spend less than RM5K/month.

Separate table for those spending 1k, 3k, 5k, should be sufficient, and would encompass a much larger audience then a 5k/mth category.

Anyway, kudos to your work, I visit your blog regularly to keep up with the best deals (kiasu-ism tongue.gif )
