Sometimes it's also about budget. Note2 is fine for all uses except for maybe some very new games.

to me I felt that note 2 is a slow phone, used for 1 month sold off for nexus 4... maybe note 3 will be a better choice.

Note 3 is one of the accuracy screen in market when you set Movie mode, well review by a lot professional site like DisplayMate and Anandtech.I think Note 2 also a beast already. Or never bother on how fast it is, and never play much games. Then Note II is enough for you, as I believe most features of Note 3 will appear for Note II also in coming updates. ------------------------------------------------------------------- But I still encourage you go for Note 3 if money is not an issue and if you seldom change phone, then Note 3 is far better and more future proof than Note II. Budget: Note 2
Specs: Note 3 Seriously, if you can use the spare cash, the N2 is good enough, at least to hold you off until the Note 4. That's what I did a few weeks back. 600 is actually a LOT when you sit back and think about it. Properly configured, the N2 has oodles of RAM, has good battery life and is more than fast enough. Plus it's easier to hack and fool around with at the moment, with no Knox to worry about (at the moment anyway) and with a much more "matured" dev environment (the N3 will catch up after a few months of course). Lags? I had a sheetload more lag on my S3 for sure and while the N3 is silky smooth, my N2 is no sloth either. Properly configured, anyway. Sammy loads their phones with so much bloat to begin with. Plus all of the current stock probably has the newer eMMC firmwares baked in so you won't have to worry about SDS either. Like I said before, if you can live with last year's best, the N2 is certainly "good enough". If you have an extra 600 lying around though, DO get the N3 by all means - in a straight up contest of course it's better. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Oct 21 2013, 06:07 PM |

Don't forget after buying phone, there are hidden cost as well. Such as casing, battery, micro sd card.
Good case, probably RM 50 Original battery with charger dock a couple of hundred 64 GB micro sd 170+ Slim port or adapter, more than RM 50 NFC tags Power bank Screen protector Car charger |

ppl who says the note 2 isn't laggy either didn't use it long enough or didn't try any alternatives which are a lot more snappy and responsive before. samsung solved the lagginess by adding more RAM and a very fast processor in the note 3, but it still isn't as snappy as it's competitors. the only reason to get the note is it's S pen functions which is way more useful than all it's major competitors (e.g. the xperia ZU or HTC ONE MAX). if u r in sales and marketing or need to do quick presentation, the note series is the only (and best tool) to do the job. but if u don't need to do these kind of stuff, other branded phones with 4.7" -5" (the Z1 or Nexus 5) are better in every aspect.
simply put, DON'T get the note 2, get the note 3 if u need S-pen and a super huge screen. get the Nexus 5 if u want the best android experience with the least amount of money. get the Z1 for best camera (with that amazing physical shutter button). |

I don't find Note II is lag, it is pretty smooth even long use. My sister and colleague is using it, I always play their phone, the phone is pretty smooth.
Only 3 phones from Samsung I will ever recommended.
** Sorry I got no recommendation for normal phone (5" or below) from Samsung yet until date. This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Oct 21 2013, 06:43 PM |

It is not truly beauty also, the front 2 different colors look ugly to me for white version, the black one look nice but too finger magnet, also that back curve - all this issue hold me back on buying it last time. As usual, different people different taste. Previous Samsung phone not so nice is due to too shinning back plastic, but this is no longer issue in Note 3. A lot phones use polycarbonate, include Nokia Lumia, Sony Phone (last year), HTC (last year) - It ain't look cheap. ----------------------------------------- Also I personally find Samsung Touchwiz is nice looking be 3rd. 1st - Sony UI 2nd - Pure Android (New KitKat UI gonna be 1st to me) 3rd - Samsung TouchWiz 4th - HTC Sense 5/5.5 (all previous sense none I like) This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Oct 21 2013, 07:13 PM |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 21 2013, 07:06 PM) HTC One is nothing to proud or wow, I think their defective units is more than perfect unit. all those plastic phones, nokia feels premium, just felt good in the hands, samsung should learn from them. the biggest problem with the note 3 plastic is not the back anymore (because it feels like leather) but when u view from the side and hold it, the disgusting feeling came back instantly. and u WILL be touching those disgusting sides pretty often because that thing is so big, u HAVE to grip it.It is not truly beauty also, the front 2 different colors look ugly to me for white version, the black one look nice but too finger magnet, also that back curve - all this issue hold me back on buying it last time. Sorry I don't feel that for Note 3. I even more happy now holding it than my previous superb solid premium feel phone - Sony Xperia Z or Z Ultra, both phone only look and feel premium when it is new, once it get dirt, and it is easier to get dirt and finger print, then it really feel disgusting where I need unstop wiping it.Sony this year design got 2 really bad design, 1st is they is a deep inside line surrounding the entire phone screen, after a while, maybe a month, all dusk will suck inside and difficult to clean out. This part make the premium look of the phone completely gone. 2nd is as I mention above, finger print magnet, using both side as glass is a bad decision, it only look nice when it is clean and new. Nokia Lumia phone most feel solid, except the latest Lumia 1020, especially that yellow lime color, the finish look cheap on that. This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Oct 21 2013, 07:23 PM |

QUOTE(stormlcc @ Oct 21 2013, 07:01 PM) for better multitasking for sure, but crucially, to cure the horrible lag. after update to 4.3 with the TRIM function maybe will reduce the lag further Well if it's useless, just rip it out. I don't even have the stock launcher anywhere on my otherwise stock ROM anymore. Plus all the other useless crap in there.4.3 will definitely improve on the responsiveness of the note 2, but i doubt it will make a huge impact, just making the experience bearable because the hardware just can't cope with that much crap in the OS. personally i'm not a fan of touchwiz, it's design is ugly and there are just too much bloat. 90% of the stuff samsung put in there are totally useless. not to mention the build quality is truly world class disgusting plasticky. after holding the HTC ONE and the iphone 5, then go hold the note (even the 3) i felt like washing my hands immediately. Although I do have to concur that ripping the bloat out only applies to more "technically inclined" users. Which means most people are still very well stuck with all that bloat. As for build quality, what to do. Get me a fully aluminium unibody phone with an SD card slot and a removable battery and than I'll jump ship. Plastic is a small price to pay for practicality IMHO, but that might just be me. This post has been edited by Eiraku: Oct 21 2013, 07:21 PM |

QUOTE(Andrewtst @ Oct 21 2013, 06:41 PM) I don't find Note II is lag, it is pretty smooth even long use. My sister and colleague is using it, I always play their phone, the phone is pretty smooth. Whats wrong with s4??Only 3 phones from Samsung I will ever recommended.
** Sorry I got no recommendation for normal phone (5" or below) from Samsung yet until date. The screen is way better than note 2 and it looks really good but im curious why it isn't popular compared to other samsung phone(s3,note2) |

QUOTE(playxboxwii @ Oct 21 2013, 07:23 PM) Whats wrong with s4?? S4 is kind of failure from Samsung, when start selling that time, it anytime hang/restart itself when you touch the camera. The screen is way better than note 2 and it looks really good but im curious why it isn't popular compared to other samsung phone(s3,note2) The entire phone feel lagging, the 2GB RAM is not enough for everything Samsung put inside. Don't said on trim down the bloatware, not everyone do that, and 1st impression on S4 is bad for most people. This post has been edited by Andrewtst: Oct 21 2013, 07:29 PM |

Gawd hating touchwiz has no real bearing on the matter at hand. Since some people are so pro the pure google experience ffs flash in aosp or cm to the note 2. As for lag since that's the topic du jour, 500ms won't kill you is it even 365days x 100 times of 500ms lag or what you perceive to be lag...
Note 2 has one of the largest active community of modders as well so again i say....flash whatever you want if you don't want 90% of the stock stuff. S pen AND active digitizers ftw. |

QUOTE(happyday119 @ Oct 21 2013, 04:43 PM) Wanna get either Note 3 or Note 2. I was not a fan of a note 2, even with its super specs. But if you have extra cash, its worth going with the note 3. I think the best build samsung phone by far, after the galaxy nexus imo. And the specs, you just can't go wrong with it. 4k ftwWhich one do you think ? Note 3 : around RM2030 Note 2: around RM1450 which the price difference is huge. Thx. |
