Figure collecting and the otaku come hand in hand. In fact, figure collecting has been called the otaku’s “drug of choice.” The hobby as a whole can be quite overwhelming to the new comer with so many different brands, models, and sometimes outrageous prices. It can be a lot to take and at times will scare off those interested.

Why Collect Anime Figures?
Collecting as a hobby in general is nothing new. People collect all sorts of things, be it the classics like stamps and baseball cards or the more odd choices out there. Anime figure collecting can really be seen as a supplement to a love of anime and manga, because the characters portrayed in the figures are almost always from anime and manga. This is really where the appeal comes for many. Figures are a way to take your favorite characters off of the 2D screen or page and put them right in front of you. Individual figures can be appealing because of their detail, general style or mixture of both.

A bit off topic but there's a hot topic now on the news about a cosplayer Rape and killed a 15 years old girl. Will it affect what other people think about collectors like us?

He killed her before he could even rape (the victim resisted).
cosplay or not, it will damage the reputation of anime itself in someway because of uninformed ppl who likes to stereotype.

I just hate how the Chinese newspapers keep emphasizing on the words "anime" in their news, as if they are trying to send a message it's a bad influence. The star wasnt that bad, still okay. As a Chinese who is capable of reading Chinese, to be honest, i have boycotted their papers for years because of unethical methods to gain attention. Rather often you see their papers highlight bad news (accidents, suicide, murder, bla bla) on the front page, with big red words, or even decorate the words with blood splashes to attract attention - when for that same day, other newspapers have nation/gov/politics news on the front page. They are making use of something bad that happened to others to attract attention towards their products.

the designs of SAO figures aren't bothering me, they can't modify much anyway
what ticks me is all of the figures' poses, are just wrong 

Wow, Griffon is churning out figures like there's no tomorrow...And is this character only good for holding things between her boobs...? Makes me wonder if the boobs are squeezable like the other figure of her...Oh,this one's due out next month too...

I just don't get the pose...What exactly is she trying to do...? Both poses just look awkward to me...I like all the space battleship yamato figures I've seen so far (especially the hot blue alien chick  ) ,but this one I just can't bring myself to like...Also, a prime leaner candidate...?

Porn most of them are the same only - always in this order (for reasons i dunno): guy strip girl > guy pero pero girl > girl eat ice cream > Missionary style > cowgirl style > doggy style > missionary style + climax > end. Boring. I watch it because the girl is nice, nothing else. Walao, off topic liao lol.
Any way, for ero figures, most of them are either original artworks or from eroge or VN though; from hentai, kinda rare, although Bible Black's figures have existed for some time already.

in contrast, most of those "let you see it all" are not my thing...

It's from KL Kastam I think, it happens when I'm just starting to collect these things.
