Support Panda Li Li is brutal... You can hardly kill her and her AoE heals can turn team fights. I played a game where everytime my DH hits her she gain 15% movement speed and just runs away.

i never played any Dota before so Heroes is likely the 1st experience for me. just wanna ask, i notice the stun sleep silence & etc duration is too short, like 1 sec only.

QUOTE(SpikeTwo @ Jul 4 2014, 04:20 PM) i also never played dota but being played D3 for soooooooo long. i think the game is a lil slow, too bad we cant change the speed in versus game right? As some of you might already know, I studied the Warcraft III game protocol extensively. Im such a noob in HoS... The timeslot decides the interval of time for actions get processed by the host/server, basically it means the commands you made on the client isn't immediately processed by the host/server, instead it is queued and processed periodically. Thinks chess where both players can move in the same turn with unlimited moves at time limit of 250ms per "turn". Now about D3, its game engine runs at 60 timeslots per second, which actually mean, the servers will process the commands queue at every 1000/60 ~= 16.67ms and the game also does some client side predictions which make your commands to be carried out immediately before receiving an acknowledgement from the server (and rollback if the commands are not accepted). This is why you feel the game is much "faster. Now back to Heroes, I somehow feel (wild guess, didn't study into Sc2/Heroes game engine) that is using a much larger timeslot than D3, my wild guess is 250ms at least, meaning that, every time you issue a command, you're queuing your command 250ms into the future, coupled with average human respond time of 200ms, you're looking at almost half a second delay, when you see something happened in the game, you're probably half a second too late to react. Also, heroes (that uses SC2 game engine) can't allow client side prediction because it is meant to be precise (and strategic) so it must wait for the server to acknowledge the commands being accepted (maybe another 200ish ms of delay). This is why Heroes (and DotA 2) feels really "slow". Advantage of using larger timeslot is, it makes the game less sensitive to lag spikes as long as the sum of spike and round trip delay doesn't exceed the timeslot a.k.a latency concealing. However, it also means the player can only react to predetermined actions and pre-queuing the actions depending on how large is the timeslot. P/S: This is also why you see SC2 Pro players keep spamming commands, because they're trying to pack as much commands (predictions) into the timeslots as possible so that they can workaround the "delay". In short, they're not "reacting", they're predicting This post has been edited by I<3LYN: Jul 6 2014, 08:52 AM |
