Don't use RM5 repair, it will damage the tyre in the long run. Ask for repair from inside, about RM20 but you don't need to fear air leak out or tyre damage.

You better go and change the tyre now because it's going to affect your performance if you just rely on RM5 tampal. You cant drive faster than 180kph if you tampal, so knowing you, take the advice and change the holey tyre.

Thanks advise..

The car since roll out factory 4years ago never did any alignment till now.. blush.gif
Front tyre more worn out than back tyre.

The spare tyre is new everything is the same (rim & tyre model) .. Should install the spare type & keep the tampal as spare ?

Btw how much a new Model 175/65R 14 cost ? icon_rolleyes.gif

Dont use the spare tyre just use the patched tyre and change it to front if it is on rear. If a nail can easily poke your tyre, it is one of the indicator that your tyre is worn out and you may need to check if it need to be replaced.

Actually if you do the RM20 repair, you can still use the tyre without worry. Water can't get into the steel in the tyre and air can't leak out. Basically same as tyre without puncture.

RM6 repair if prolong use, water will get into the steel and corrosion will occur, that time you can say bye bye to the tyre. Air also can leak out and unless you always check the pressure and refill the air, you might damaged the tyre due to running on low pressure for too long.

As I stated before, if you got some extra money go change both tyres. Pls dont buy 2nd hand tyre for 1 side only as you need to change the other side too.

1 nail may be a bad luck but 2 nails? A call for new tyres. You can go tampal this tyre but you will see another nail either on the same tyre or on other side of the tyre.

Dont forget to put the new tyres at the back and old ones to the front.

Some mechanics wont advice you to do this but this is the logic, your back tyres are 4 years old and if you dont rotate your tyres to the front your back tyres will have 4 more years or more. Im sure you dont want to use 8 years old tyres... dont you?

i just had bad puncture on sunday at lowyat plaza. Had to stop at the road side in front of lowyat plaza to change tyre. Tons of ppl walking by looking at me changing tyre. Also..thanks to a few youngster (one of them a mechanic) who came help me when I was stuck on jacking up the car. Eventually all done in less than 30 min. Continue my shopping at lowyat plaza. I am not sure about some mechanics but nowadays most mechanics will advise you to rotate your tyres. The tyre shop that I frequent even stick mileage sticker to my windscreen for next tyre rotation. This is because they can make money. You go rotate the tyre sure have to redo balancing and alignment.

Im referring to new tyres only and not old tyres. Rotation of new tyres may vary depends either it RWD or FWD.

For old tyres you dont rotate your tyres that frequent in my opinion, I will only rotate once per tyre lifetime. You MUST rotate your tyre, otherwise you will waste a lot of your tyre tread. 1 more thing for tyres rotation, you may need wheel balancing (bagi sket la) but not alignment.

IINM, for FWD, should be new tyres at front, old tyres at rear.
