hi there,

i've been reading the threads and i've some basic info on the CC but i am can't figure(pricing comparison idiot) if which combination is better against my current CC.
please recommend if you will smile.gif

Currently i'm holding CIMB direct access mastercard with RM16000 limit(no cashback only accumulate points, no AF), and normal alliance visa card(blue color, cashback and bonus point, got this because it comes with application of my housing loan, RM7000 limiit only, 12x swipes waiver for AF).

for CIMB CC, i used it as auto payment for my insurance and other installments...usually only RM200-500 per month), if there is some bigger amount purchase i will also use this because it has a higher purchase limit.

for alliance CC, i use it for petrol and online shopping plus other this and that because it has cashback...

i'm not a big CC user, usually my cards combined about RM1k-2k per month, with occasionally over RM3k(if any big purchase or traveling).

so currently with RM45k per annum income: should i consider:

1. maybankard - that comes with amex and master/visa
2. hongleong - that one with 10% rebate with selected categories

or any other better valued CC as per my usage pattern?

i'll cancel my existing cards if the above are better valued.

please recommend. thanks.

it would be best if you could get both but if you just need one perhaps you can check which suits your lifestyle more, another you could consider is aeon watami
*
you mean getting both hong leong + maybankard(2 cards) are better than the two that i currently having, correct?

i'm more swiping more on groceries, petrol, insurance and some online buying/intallment....

if getting both mean i wil have 3 government fee to pay right per year unless it can be waived = RM150.

i think you can just apply for aeon watami as it suits your spending pattern more. 3% rebate for all your expenses except for petrol.

3% also applies to insurance?
my main CC usage is on petrol, groceries and insurance....

Yes, it is applicable for insurance BUT not for petrol. Click here to my article AEON Watami - Hybrid Credit Card that Earns You 3% Cash Back and Reward Points.

Seriously, if you can pump petrol and do your groceries on Saturday and Sunday, best you go get Maybankard 2 Cards where you will earn a total 7% cash back equivalent every month. Click here to my article The Best Cash Back credit Card Combination and I will show you which card is best for those spending less than RM1K/month to up to RM7K/month.

TO ALL:

Recently I published two articles:

If you are looking for cash back credit card and earning RM100K/year, click here and read my article Public Bank Visa Signature - another Fantastic Cash Back credit card.

I also updated my article on Balance Transfer showing current 0% and different types of BT Plans, click here to my article The Best Balance Transfer Plans 2014.

i usually spend about RM1k for my CC,some time less sometime more...

however, about RM350/month is for 2 different insurance premium.

since insurance can't use amex(i read from some posts),
maybe i can combined aeon watami to auto charge the premium and some weekdays dining to aeon watami, and the rest(petrol, groceries, dining etc) use maybank amex card mostly for the weekend 5%....

hence, the above could be my best choice?

thanks for very helpful insights everyone smile.gif

well i dont mind to swipe my debit card/eftpos for RM2 if they allow. when i was living in australia/nz, using card to pay most of things was very convenient and you dont need to carry so much cash with you.

but dont know if this comes to malaysia, system/security will be as good or not...

sounds like a good plan. very similar to my set up  biggrin.gif

now my maybankard amex is approved, then i realize actually many of my usual online payment thing cannot swipe online or not accepted.

1. my etiqa cannot do monthly premium payment? only pay yearly? (read from somewhere)

2. my internet is not glorified uinifi so might not accept amex as well(still inquiring)

3. my maxis bill auto debit did not really maximise the weekend 5% because it never falls on saturday(maybe 2.85% according to some LYNer). now i have to request monthly and wait for call back from maxis to process the payment by amex.

all others are ok but still, the above were my monthly commitments i used to pay swiftly via maybank2u...i can still do so but it defeated the purpose of me applying MB2G then....lol.

lol, means my amex card only for weekend dining, groceries and petrol...which about RM400-500...usually i can only reach around RM1k of CC usage in total.

then i of course i need to divert my insurance(GE, internet bill-if cannot use amex) and other weekdays usage to another card. I initially wanted to get watami(have not apply yet) because of the 3% cash back, but now seems i need to reach RM1000/month at least to accumulate the quarterly cash back, i hesitated.....because with petrol and groceries already put into amex card, i can't reach RM1000(only occasionally when i go on some shopping spree, which is not much).....

please shed me some lights, do i still proceed with watami card, or is there another card to compensate the spending that amex card cannot be used? or just stick to the MB2G and use mastercard for the pity 1TP.

You can pay TM streamyx using AMEX too.

RM500 spending using AMEX gives you RM25 cashback per month + 2500 TP, multiply that by 12 months and it is considered good already.

If you still want another card, the next best option is maybe those giving you 1% cashback or maybe UOB one card.

Hmm i do actually have a alliance visa gold given by the bank with my house loan which give me 0.85%-1.3% (depending on different tier) cash back and timeless bonus. Maybe i can keep this card for weekdays and unable to use amex.

hi now i'm looking at ocbc mastercard for the 1% cash rebate as a backup card.

but it seems, the normal ocbc normal blue/pink mastercard and titanium mastercard all give 1% rebate, the only different i see from the website is normal mastercard dont have 24 concierge?

and also their GE linked mastercard where also give 1% cash rebate but auto-IPP for GE premium and give 0.1% cash rebate on this.

so the above, with per annum of RM60k and above, which one is the best card to apply?
