Thought someone over here could help me out. I am an expat working in the IT industry here in KL. Have a work permit for 2 years and I recently tried applying for a credit card with Maybank. I fulfilled all their requirements and have a clean record with CTOS and CCRIS. I have also been a Maybank customer for 6 years (ever since I was a student here in Malaysia).
However, my application was rejected and the bank wouldn't tell me why. I was a bit confused and shocked as I fulfilled everything they asked for and my documentation was legit and complete.
I was just wondering if anyone would know why the bank would reject me for the card?
I have a friend who works at a bank here in Malaysia and he said that BNM recently implemented a ruling that foreigners need to be earning RM120k per annum to be eligible for any credit cards. Anyone knows if that is true?
My current annual income is RM60k and I was applying for the Maybank 2 Card Gold which only requires an annual income of RM30k.
Any help would be appreciated
