I also don't bother to complain, but because of our own attitude to accept this practice will always continue. I prefer to be able to spend even RM2 with credit card, because getting 1%/2%/5%/7%/10% back is always better than getting 0% (and reducing liquidity). But has anyone actually complain to visa/master before? Actually gotten result? I know bigger shop (example ACE hardware) just accept CC only, but almost all small shops set limit. |

QUOTE(milkyboon @ Jul 27 2014, 09:29 AM) About few months ago, my friends and I went to a coffee shop in Ampang to have some drinks. You can swipe more or less any amount (even 1 sen) on credit card machine. However, since CC isn't legal tender, any merchant have a right not to accept payment using CC.All in total RM32+. My friend give the credit card but the waitress (I think Myanmar) say kenot as the restaurant only accept above RM40 for credit card usage. (I saw a small signboard on the restaurant's glass wall stating so.) My friend black face & immediately shoot the waitress. "What bull**** is this!? Call your manager!" So he say restaurant cannot do so, if he report to VISA/Mastercard, they will take away the credit card machine. So waitress cannot handle my friend, had to call manager. So talk to manager, manager firstly say the same thing. So my friend shoot her also. "Look, don't blame me if next week you don't have your credit card machine anymore." So manager also takut aldy, took his credit card. Surprisingly came back with credit card accepted. Friend sign while the manager apologize "Sorry ah, the waitress don't know. Next time I will teach them properly. It's our fault" I was amazed. Another friend of us is a senior internal auditor also did not know about this. Tl;dr So, does the restaurant* has the right to reject customer based on the level of spending? Let's say below RM50, restaurant don't accept them? Edit: typo error While there is an MC/Visa rule about not allowing merchants to impose minimum spend, just like additional charges for CC payments, good luck to you actually having the merchant's card facilities revoked. |

So anyone can advise how to apply for Signature card using FD? It's time for an upgrade. |

Hi sifus,
In your opinion, if I have to choose between MBB Visa Signature and Visa Infinite, which one should I go with? For Signature - I only use roughly RM200 for fuel and RM500 for groceries per month, so I don't think I can consistently cap the 5% cashback. I don't travel overseas that much as well so the Plaza Premium would be largely wasted on me. If they have something equivalent for domestic then I'm all for it though. For infinity - I'm not a golfer, so the golf privileges are wasted. I do prefer the 2x local purchase points, since not all outlets accepts AMEX for the 5x. The airmiles conversion is really sweet too. I wouldn't be able to hit 50k for annual fee waiver on both cards, so I prefer to apply for just 1 of them. |
