Why not?

I have ICBC Debit Card issued by Malaysia and the Union Pay credit card is for Malaysians as well.

We are Malaysian obviously.

The first line says it all: "√ A copy of NRIC (both sides) or Passport for Principal and Supplementary card applicant (if any) "

What a surprise when saw the application does have Chinese.

China banks are not flexible comparing to our local banks and their online banking system sucks in my opinion but they said they have tight security. Have to install certificate in browser and etc. So far the worst online banking I encountered. This should be taken into consideration should you really want to apply for one.

For applications, they prefer you to walk in. Well, the branch is near to me, opposite of KLCC.

Yaya, I try to register the online banking, but end up give out..

I managed to register one after I brought my laptop to ICBC near to KLCC. doh.gif
That also means I cannot change my laptop. doh.gif

I noticed recently there is an iOS App which caters for ICBC overseas and I managed to login just to view my account details, to perform transactions again I will need to walk in to register for it. I will do it as it is much easier to perform via app than on my laptop. doh.gif

It depends on banks' discretion and your friend is very lucky because MBB is famous for being stingy when comes to CL.
Most of us only got 3x or slight more from them. sleep.gif

Just made a phone call to icbc card centre, informing them about my UnionPay card usage in Shenzhen and Hong Kong on next week.

To my surprise was, CS said that no need to inform the bank about the overseas usage, as it is 'Worldwide' valid.

Another thing I highlighted to them was my UnionPay card still signature based but not PIN based. If payment transaction PIN input needed, how? CS said just simply key in any random 6 digit numbers will do..

This is my first time usage on UnionPay card at Shenzhen and Hong Kong, hopefully everything is smooth...wink.gif
