Apple says having a file system makes it less user friendly coz many users can't brain file systems. I can't say for all but my children who has minimum exposure in pc also can dig file systems

It's a free file manager that supports wifi-transfer, or transferring via iTunes.

with that program, you are accessing into the whole internal. you need to be specific on what you want to extract out.

if you want to extract an app.. go google for the directory.

I'm a new Ipad mini use, just want to share my experience. Try this app
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/fileapp-fil...d297804694?mt=8
I can upload by dragging any files (from PC to ipad) wirelessly, provided that the PC and ipad are on the same wifi network. FileApp has a "download" folder, you can see all the uploaded files there. Click the files (even if it is "unknown file type") and choose the appropriate App to open that type of file. For example, I choose VLC Player to play rmvb files, iBooks to open epub files etc.

When I want to download files (from ipad to PC/Mac), just install DiskAid
http://www.digidna.net/diskaid/download
You have to connect ipad with PC by USB cable first. After DiskAid has recognized the specific ipad, subsequent file transfer can be done wirelessly without USB connection.

P.S.
1) the PC has to install iTunes to use DiskAid (but iTunes is not required to stay open when using DiskAid).
2) No need to jailbreak to use the above apps or software.

Enjoy easy file transfer just like my Android phone!!!
