Hi, planning to change car next year but there are many of choices but I limit myself down to this 4 with my very personal opinion in brief. Currently, driving civic fd1, been driving for 7 years and planning to change my car and for the the purpose of marriage as well. Tot of making it 'san leong' car also...Currently having 3 car in family, an E90 320, camry facelift 2010 and my civic 2.0 fd 1.

So planning to change towards coupe more as never experience b4 and hope something more stylish.

Definitely there are a little bit budget concern and also a little bit of resale value as we'll and I already did some survey.

1. Toyota FT86 RM 243,000 New Car
- Only JDM among My Options
- Cheapest among my options but Toyota logo and the price tag don't really justified the car
- Sporty, typical sport car look, 2+2 Coupe
- power wise not tht great compare to other 'sport' car.
- maybe cheaper maintenance but petrol wise not sure whether ron95 usable o not?

2. Audi A5 Coupe New facelift RM399,000 from Euromobil, RM310K++ 2012 Recond
- my most preferred option among all but price tag too high
- getting recond will be risky as no warranty
- mostly a5 (recond) do not have push start button (there all majority push the key to start)
- the more expensive the car the greater depreciation of it
- coupe could fit people/ passenger in the rear seat
- classy and so far kinda luxury in malaysia
- new model might out anytime soon since is also about 6-7 years

3. Audi TT S Line RM355,000 from Euromobil and Recond price from RM150 depends on year and spec
- small car but stylish and sleek look
- old technologies, no gimmick tech such as push start and electronic seat
- high price tag for such a small car
- new model anytime out as this model already 8years

4. BMW F30 M Sport RM309,000
- kinda good option as we'll but currently family already owning E90 320 M Sport
- BMW give good discount
- difference not much compare to E90 as will it be really funny if out it together

Volkswagen wise, i would prefer only scirocco at the moment but 2.0 discontinue leave only option of 1.4 and R.
1.4 DSG gearbox dry clutch been a problem since launch till now and havent really have a solution till now, R are too pricy, i will perceive it as a hot hatch more than a coupe. Don't prefer golf although is powerful enough and it speed might match a5 and bmw 328.

Pls share...

imho, the ft86 is the odd one in there. it's a jdm sport car...unlike the euro marque counterparts there..
so that makes it the cheapest of the bunch in there.

if u buy a jdm ft86 for 250k, ofcourse its the cheapest one in those four but ppl ,i think, r gonna say u stupid for buying a relatively 'underpower' albeit a real sportcar ft86 when for 250k, u can get tonnage of powerhouse jdms choices ,modded GT350 , Evos, barely close to that n as far as even u can top up abit , myb another 30-50k for GTR35 although recon but the status is supercar oredy and can sapu the rest of the car in your choices up there. but yes, the FT86 does oozes class, elegance , than those other jdms mentioned, the exclusivity cuz rare n it's new

since u house oredy have a E90, it's just a refreshing fusion if u have the FT86 park along side your bimer coupe. someday eat italy food sometime eat sushi c the mood.

but if u spend 300-400k on a conti marque coupe, nobody gonna say u stupid...why? becoz the kids will be too out of reach for the price and the old man respect the brand so u can stand up there with them...

but a gtr35 will blow everyone away if u can cope with the maintenances ie fixes and fuel consumption and all. everything else, nthg come close even if its just a nissan badge.

dpds what sort of ppl r u, do u care what other ppl say n just drive what u want then i wud go for the ft86, provided that u like the interior...that said, it goes back to what u want...interior, power, maintenance, etc? coz afaik bmw interior very yucky to me. the answer is inside you if u seach deep enough hahaha

very agree with those i highlighted.....

brand wise i would say Audi are far >>>>>> Toyota....
both are coupe but it seems like heaven and hell....however a 86 is still toyota, a5 is still audi
399K vs 243K

GTR35 definitely one my favourite but i do not dare to put it in my option as based on my survey

a 2008 recond will actually cost 350K and above
new one not available in malaysia but if new import will be 800K-900K above..
is very far beyond my budget..

maintenance wise i really couldn't afford...

I would either go for an Audi S4 recon or a E92 M3 instead.

Not quite sure what you are after... which matters to you most?

- power
- looks
- handling
- brand prestige

cos if you can decide your top 2...then it will automatically make your choice clear. Since money doesnt seem to be a problem, and it looks like you prefer new...do consider

AMG A45 at 339k (estimated)
AMG CLA45 (should be below 400)

428i Msport (below 400, should be here by Q4)

of the choices you mentioned, the 86 def odd one out, its the only non turbo, non conti car. So thats out. The TT is the oldest car of the 4, and way overdue for a facelift, so thats out.

leaves the A5 and F30....A5 is also reaching the end of its model life, .....leaving the F30...but since you have a E90, i would wait 2-3 months and get a 428i biggrin.gif

If you really like racing car I won't recommend the 86, I will go for a new RX8. is around 250k as well and it had lots more HP. Low maintenance and is an extremely good car + sedan

IDK la....myb i dont have 300-400k to spend...but if i have rm180k to buy a car, I would consider the 6 sec Mazda MPS3 lo ,new somemore, it's the best bang for buck 4drs practicality too...260hp , 380nm

if have 400k, can consider jwrx suggestion on 428i Msport

get a FT86 and be different smile.gif
test drive those cars and get back to me ok smile.gif

From the vote alone we can tell the jdm is quite /still a popular among the car enthusiasts....At first glance, I knew Audi TT doesn't garner as many admirers as before...it's styling is nice but myb somehow too subliminal?

Since you said family has a BMW, so you left with 1, 2 and 3. A5 is better choice if you do ferry more than 2 people from time to to, it should be more stable also as it is quottro. TT is small and sporty, but is the fastest amount the 3, the back seat is very cramp. 86 is the weakest, back seat also cramp, but is the cheapest and iconic for the 86 badge.

Actually quite curious, you said the Volkswagen R series is too expensive, I am assuming it is the Scirocco R that you are referring to. If compared to the F30 328i which you mentioned, the Scirocco R is cheaper compared to the F30.

It depends on what do you mean by better. I have driven both cars extensively, both are very different and both have their plus points. But since you did mention marriage, I am assuming that you would mean a family. If that is the case, go for the F30 328 then.

GT86 may be cheap here if u compare to Audi and BMW. But its not when u compare to he cars it is meant to compete with.

Renault Megane RS 250 Cup 2.0 T (M) RM229,800
Renault Megane RS 265 Cup 2.0 T (M) RM240,888
Alfa GT 2.0 JTS Black Line RM218,888
Mazda MX-5 2.0 RM220,000
Peugeot RCZ 1.6 (M) RM218,011

If u want to blast everything away, Renault Megane is the way to go. Heard Peugeot RCZ GT is announced, but available next year. Dunno price.

just get d ft86 n end ur worries lol since d depreciation is inevitable anyway. bur srsly, do a in depth test drive of all, who knows your deepest desire lies in soft factor of d car ie ft86 driving pleasure/dynamics better than f30 leh, I mean one man poison can be anothers treasure, u nvr know till uve driven them to compare...u have a bmw at home d, more the reason of NOT getting another one. bmw is arguably better than a4 so no point looking backward. so leave you with only audi tt s coupe vs brz/ft86...sure brz is ftw for reasons i dont even need to say lol AND,to state jdm seem better holding rv than european counterparts, i maybe wrong about this...but someone also did mention d more expensive it is, d higher d dep. besides, d ft86 is fr d legendary toyota 86 anyway...its not d brand, its d bloodline you know..like uchiha lol

Get a Mercedes Benz if you're a human :)
I would recommend A class or E class. (Father using W210 E270, W212 E350 Coupe, Mother using A 45 AMG bought from SG)
As far as I could say, my parents Mercedes Benz maintenance fees are way lot cheaper than BMW. It is more durable, reliable and fuel-economically. I can't see why not Benz.

Don't ever get C class, worst shit ever!

Not spacious enough

Not comfortable enough

Not unique enough

Looks like Proton for me as it is so normal nowadays.
