i've applied gold cash back mastercard, the call center told me that the min expenditure per month (rm500) for the 2% cashback is based on current calendar month, not statement date.
can anyone confirm on this?

Not sure about gold cash back MC. But previously i'm using Just One Platinum, their cash back calculation is according to calendar month.

ok.. thank u..
how about the transaction from 1st - end of the month?
based on transaction date or posting date?

Standard Chartered Gold CashBack Credit Card..can anyone mind to share what so good about this card? Currently I'm holding this card and monthly spending is from 1.5k-2k, the cash rebate is only rm50.. other than that I also do not found any good from this card.. and I'm holding 2 card another one I use to do IPP, hence basically just for the IPP no other limit for me to spend, and due to my previous apply salary is not more than 3k and now want to apply new card for citibank but rejected~_~.. it is using debit card better?
*
imo, if ur monthly spending can be divided into other categories for eg, petrol/dining/groceries, maybe there are other card better for these categories.
for me, this card is only useful for other purchases, such as online payment/parking/etc..

My spending are totally mix, inclusive dining, travel, shopping, groceries, petrol&auto & etc anything can pay through credit card basically I will use..
*
i think to make full use of ur cashbacks, u should split up the expenses..
no benefit on petrol/insurance payment with this card, so it's better to use them on other cards..
and if u have other cards, and they might offer u better benefits than this card which u might get 2-3% cashback only..
other cards might give u 5-10% on petrol/dining/groceries..

QUOTE(aromachong @ Jan 15 2015, 03:53 PM)
For the Cashback system how it works actually?

the cashback system calculated by monthly or follow the monthly statement?

let say it accumulate from 1st Jan - 31st Jan , OR follow the billing cycle which starts from 29th JANUARY until 29 FEBRUARY??

Any idea??
*
it's 1st Jan - 31st Jan (i was informed by the CS).

btw, anyone noticed some transactions online were charged more than the amount?
let's say I bought something from Groupon, it is RM45.
However, in my statement shown RM45.36.
Yesterday I bought something online, it was RM8.
However in my statement today, it shown RM8.06.

What are all those additional charges?
It never happened to my other CC before.

I buy online never got such problem you mentioned.

I also called CS, some told me count from 1st-31th January.

Some told me statement date from 7th January to 7th February. So which one is correct actually???
*
so u mean i should clarify with CS what are those hidden charges?

yes you should lodge a report

and also clarify how did the cash back system works? follow the month? or follow the statement date?
*
i have called and asked.
the CS told me the merchants were based in overseas, although the currency is in RM..
So there are some % (maximum 1%) charges to the transactions which were based in overseas.
@_@
I never knew that Groupon MY can have overseas merchants... hmm.gif

Also, I asked for the cash back system, it is based from 1st until the end of everymonth, not by statement date.
And he told me there is no need for any accumulation of RM50 to get the cash back..
the RM50 mentioned online is a cap of RM50 everymonth, which we all already knew..

Oh.. when you get your card? if you used your card for a time being, you might know how cashback works...

when i call CS just now he told me the cashback follow statement date? what a big joke? different cs tell different story?
*
just got my card in december 2014..
so still waiting for my 1st cashback, which i was told to be in feb2015 statement..

QUOTE(adele123 @ Jan 16 2015, 09:22 AM)
FYI

though the funny part is WHY groupon m'sia got charged. anyway, now you are aware of the charges. can report and add to the list. biggrin.gif
*
i think not all groupons transactions will have this charges..
i purchased something before and no charges on that..
so it could be dependant on the merchant..

It's a requirement for bank to charge the GST as it's required by LHDN, it's also up to those bank whether to offer rebate or so-called loyalty cashback of RM50 to recover the RM50 we paid for the GST.

Should the Customer Service reluctant to offer credit of RM50, just tell them that you want to cancel the card (provided you don't to take the risk of card being cancelled), usually they will inform you that another officer from Credit Card Retention Unit will give a callback to process the cancellation. Do make it clear to the Retention Unit agent that you're cancelling the card due to GST and most of the time, they will offer RM50 credit to your card account in order to retain customer.  wink.gif

my citibank cashback card was cancelled as they do not want to offer me rm50 gst rebate.
so the end of citibank for me.
haha..

Just saw your post after I clicked the reply button by saying most credit cards couldn't purchase prepaid online due to merchant fee. Something new to me, looks great by a glance through their main page.

Will there be any unstated hidden charges or additional fee that we need to be aware of?  hmm.gif
*
i dunno.. never tried it..
there shouldn't be any charges imo..
anyone try it? haha..

As for as I know, we couldn't purchase prepaid reload by using credit cards due to merchant fee being impose. So SCB credit cards are not alone here as most banks' credit cards can't perform prepaid reload online, however, most bank do offer direct purchase through CASA account by their online platform.  smile.gif
*
btw.. UOB and CITIBANK allow direct purchases from CC thru their website..
so i think some banks do allow it.. biggrin.gif
