I tried to waive the fee just now over the phone, but it was unsuccessful.

No I didn't, too much hassle for that for now as it is tight up with few monthly auto debit payments.

I didn't speak to any operator.
I just called up the hotline and was route through the answering machine. First the card info, then fee, following by fee waiver. Then was asked to key in my credit card number and the system said "Your request was unsuccessful".
