Will buy NVR dlink RM500
and hard disk RM200-250.

I was quoted Rm2K for 4 720x480 cctv and DVR with hard disk and installation cabling.
but my wife dunwan install, but i regret i want to install myself. so

And i think that if i do myself.
RM100 per 13A point
RM500 NVR
RM250 Hard Disk
4x IP camera Rm250 each
TOTAL = RM2150.

extra RM2150 still OK. at least with motion detection features and got voice microphone.
but work wirelessly no choice for now.

If u don't want to use WIFI, u can buy homeplug. Since u ask ur wireman to make 13A point, plug the Homeplug and convert powerline to ethernet.

Thanks for ur suggestion.
I guess I can buy something like that:
So means i just need a 13A power plug
http://www.lelong.com.my/tp-link-tl-pa251k...4-07-Sale-P.htm

And then the cctv plug on top of it with a short RJ 45 cable.
But total cost i guess same like analog cctv already haha.

Hi guys, is following solution possible?

The idea: Wireless IP Camera <via Wifi> Laptop HDD local motion recording <via Internet> Remote live viewing and playback.

1. real-time motion alert by laptop and/or smart phone, via wifi without internet.

2. motion record to the laptop hdd, via wifi without internet.

3. remote motion real-time alert and viewing with android smart phone.

4. remote 2 way voice conversation.

Appreciate any suggestions how to carry these out, thank you.

these r now standard features (except for audio). i suggest to get a dedicated nvr for recording as the hdd will be 24/7 write or get a big sd-card to use it record local.
2 way voice conversation only possible for camera with built-in/external speaker.
note that ip camera are still costly when compare to hdcvi camera.

IP cam should not be expensive.

My cheapo cam still working and recording to my NAS as we speak even at night when its dark (has built in infra red). I can also check out whats going house in the house remotely move the view by just swiping my phone via the supported app plus it has two way communication with using my phone with people in the house.

Few gripes though due to cheapo:-

1. Camera fell down the other day and color gone, now video in b&w
2. The motion detector hit and miss, sometime got alert on the phone and sometime none maybe due to connection.
3. Cannot power the cam using network cable (POE) have to pull usb plug from somewhere

Anyways before anyone invest on more expensive ip cam, they should just try out cheapo one and learn how things work especially when using advance surveillance software like synology

i have listed out what's important on any cam in that thread.

#FEATURESDESCRIPTION
1. ONVIF IP Security standard compliant so App for Mobile & NAS software can be used
2. H.265 HEVCSave ton of space on the recording storage compared to H.264/MPEG
3. FULL HD Clear and quality recording
4. PTZ Remotely able to pan, tilt and zoom the camera
5. INTERCOM Remotely able for 2 way communication, mic + speaker (audio out will be better)
6. POE Ability to use power by the network cable, no adapter needed. WIFI not really reliable connection
7. MULTISTREAM Able to stream 1080p to the server, and low res live feed to phone simultaneously
8. MOTION DETECTION Motion sensor detector work with advance NAS software
9. NIGHT VISION Ability to see in the dark for few meters
10. PUSH NOTIFICATION Send push message upon movement / vandal detection to IOS/ android phone
11. LIVE VIEW live view on IOS / android devices
12. NVR NAS Act like high end surveillance video recorder by home Network Attached Storage

I also now looking for better cam for my new house.

average price for a wired ip camera is around RM140 for 1.3MP, RM250 for 2MP and increasing as MP increases.
Wireless IP camera around RM400 for 3MP.
For night vision, important to note the IR distance and the lux value of <1.
I recommend getting Dahua camera, reliable and durable. they also give you free PC-NVR software to use, but i suggest getting a dedicated NVR and CCTV rated HDD as video recording will always 100% be writing on the harddisk.

Sample for Dahua hfw1320s-w specs
