I think generally MK-26 is a better performer but very dependent on which fan you put on it. No? smile.gif

Do take a look @APU Agenda & Sessions.

It'll give you an idea of what AMD was/will-be doing - don't say AMD isn't doing anything for us folks. wink.gif

Sessions in 45mins, puhlease... so many overshoot one. tongue.gif

Haha...actually i have no idea what is that, i don't think it will affect game fps right?
*
TrueAudio is actually DSP - aside from audio processing (which will free up the CPU = small increase of FPS) can use the DSP for other processing.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_signal_processing

The Applications section gives a few example of other uses.

I won't be surprised if it'll be use for Twitch/Raptr, etc.

Just saying... icon_rolleyes.gif

LYN members who didn't get to go to San Jose... and dying to know more about Mantle:

Go here.

The best juicy part is the Q&A session AFTER the presentation.

EDIT:
Apologies. I forgot to mention: 2 videos.
1st video is the whole Mantle session.
2nd video is the "supposedly offline" Q&A

thank you vid info about mantle... now i wish  what they say is at least 80% true.. smile.gif on coming game... but  to implement that type tech API... hmm  hmm.gif
*
You are welcome.

The Q&A session shows these devs know their stuffs and are using Mantle already.
Their ability to provide answers = shots of adrenaline. icon_idea.gif

Timeline wise, beta is now on. I'm sure much more info will be forthcoming... *ahem*

I'm hearing 2014-06 for actual release.

Mr. Riguer is AMD company man, he made a very pertinent point:

Performance for dedicated/high-end GPU.
Wow! More eye-candies, physics, GI, faster load time (or no load transition), etc.
GCN users benefits = more value.

Performance for Kaveri/APU-style rigs.
Mobile users rejoice! Lower cost mobile gaming!

Gotta catch some Zzzzz... sweat.gif

Great stuff. Thanks for sharing. Was hunting for videos on the conference.

Feeling a little sad that I bought Asus's R9 280x separately from Battlefield 4. sad.gif  (RM 1220 + RM 149) Now that Sapphire is bundling stuff up like a boss. I guess the best feature of the Asus card would be its quiet fans, though.
*
I'm glad to be of service.

The driver-dev brought up so many good points and examples during the Mantle session while I was going ahuh- nod.gif -ahuh- nod.gif ... blush.gif

The ASUS DCUii is a great buy - low noise level and you got 3years warranty.

Congrats! rclxms.gif

Just chiming in to say don't forget Matrix is heavier - so take proper precaution.

M1X:

R9-290 non-ref will be higher than 1.5k.

MSI R9-290 GAMING rumored to be USD529 (x3.25=~1720).

I think 1.8k+ for initial batch of non-ref R9-290 from the likes of ASUS/Gigabyte. Sapphire could be lower due to 2years warranty.

What's your display native resolution?

Personally I think you are just feeling the itch that *want* to be scratch.
But do you *need* an upgrade? tongue.gif

@M1X: Oooohhh... another Witcher are yer? My alchemy knowledge & signs are getting weak... Need Wild Hunt too tongue.gif

At 1920x1080 and if you don't consider upgrading to Eyefinity/4k, stick with 280x.
Otherwise save up for R9-290/X, a much better "investment".

EDIT:
I like Puteih's post.

I'm also waiting for R9-290 non-ref personally and not gaming presently (aside from Candy Crush, all bcoz of my daughter blush.gif ).

Guys, we do not work for AMD.

No point going on the defense when everything so far is pure speculation and lots of spicing on top.

All will be known in a couple of weeks and stabilizes in a few months, so be patient. And then see whether someone need to put on make-up, a red nose and wear colorful baggy pants.

Let's be daun keladi, boleh? smile.gif
(e.g. air dicurah ke atas daun keladi.)

Yeah, that's true. AMD+OpenCL very good for new virtual currencies.
Bitcoin really need ASIC boxes.

A local pricing indicator:

I got another ASUS R9 280X DC2T 3GD5 yesterday (from feiton), rm1,275 c/w Battlefield 4 include shipping to me.

3 years warranty, custom, power phases, low noise, cool, concrete chokes, etc. You know the drill.

This according to NewEgg currently sells for USD 420 (x3.25=1365+80shipping=1445).

Best draw your own conclusion.

r9 280x toxic bundle with bf4 ?
*
Toxic don't come with BF4.
Dual-X, R9-290/X and a few other model come bundled with BF4.

Sapphire Press Release

Best check Ideal (zhen^wei) Sapphire WTS post, he note with "w/Battlefield 4".

That's a really nice price bro. Afaik for the first time local pricing is lower than newegg lol.

I usually get from Ideal.

The truth is I needed the card on Wed, Feiton committed to send out on Tuesday and price is reasonable.
So I thought to give new blood some support, otherwise established shops may get cocky. tongue.gif

Another review of ASUS R9-290X DCU II OC.

http://www.reviewstudio.net/1190-asus-r9-2...joy-the-silence

I like how they disassembled the cooler to show you the 3x8mm 2x6mm heatpipes & nekid board.

icon_rolleyes.gif

EDIT:
Another

http://www.pcper.com/reviews/Graphics-Card...ics-Card-Review

At USD 569 (x3.25=1849.25), reach here would be in the 2k-2.1k range.

Make it so! nod.gif

@KratosX:

Unfortunately, the answer is no.
HD7770 is CapeVerdeXT with 640 cores.
R7 250 is OlandXT with 384 cores.

Comparison of AMD GPUs

I recommend that you get R7 260, Bonaire, 768 cores.
Should be sub 400rm.

or

Save up your ang-pau and get the R7 260X, it comes with 2GB VRAM.
Bargain a bit should bring it down to 500.
