According to review from Techpowerup, no difference in performance for 1GB vs. 2GB on 1080p resolution and below. 1600p above will highly recommend to go with 2GB version.

Yes it is ok to buy now but the reference cooler is quite loud and overclocking headroom is pretty small. 95c is totally normal for 290s according to AMD.

The price for 290 is pretty low now, around RM1.4k. The price will increase because of Litecoin mining rush, making AMD GCN GPU running out of stock everywhere.

Seriously at that price is better to buy GTX 780 or GTX 780TI.Most people prefer AMD because of Price factor which has lost very much at this time and what ever the reason is.

Mantle is not out yet and it is Dec now.It is just marketing and sweet talks by all AMD gaming Evolved Partners until real performance is shown.

Btw EA has to deal with real bugs first which they have fail miserably even CF and SLI user cannot play battlefield 4  due dam that flickering and EA is dealing with Law Suit because of laying to investor and also proving crap service to PC and console user.

you game at 1440p? mine works juz fine at 1440p. but the constant dc/error/watever is screwing the gaming experience. 

this kind of high price or so it state atm will juz hurts gamer. AMD business still goes on due to miner, and there's alot of freaking miner 
Mayb they'll come up with 2 rev. instead - 1 for gamer/normal and another for miner....

AMD priority is not mining and gamers are there target market so they  have do something or else it will hurt alot of AMD fans and AMD it self also it can lose it costumer.

Mine used to have coil whine when the FPS is over 1000, now no more. Just use MSI Afterburner to limit global frame rate to 200 if you really concern about the noise.

Sometime its the PSU though.

Use global Dynamic-Vsync, much better imo. Mine disappeared after half year.

Final Words & Conclusion

Now you just know that  I can throw all kinds of superlatives at you guys, but I can be brief as well. This is the Radeon R9-290X we all expected it to be, period.

Sufficient cooling, extreme performance, silent and tweakable are the key-words here. And hey it comes factory clocked faster then reference and it is a good chunk cheaper than a GTX 780 Ti as well as you get more graphics memory (4GB). NICE ! Having that much raw unadulterated horsepower under the hood will bring options to the table. You play your games at 2560x1440 and flick on every quality setting that you can think of. Even then the cards will do a terrific job. For the few of you that already made the step towards UHD or 4K gaming at 3840 x 2160 that where these card do make sense. The ASUS Radeon R9 290X DirectCU II OC edition is often as fast or faster then a GeForce GTX 780 Ti and certainly faster then a Titan, whilst it is going to be priced a good chunk lower. So that in retrospect means (even at this price level) performance for money. Prices will sit at 499~539 EUR (incl VAT for this rather shweeeeet graphics card).
