maybank doesnt own the sms gateway. they (and other service providers) uses 3rd party sms gateway to send out the sms to their own respective customers (in this case, Maybank's customers).

one possible reason need to inform MBB when we change telco is maybe because MBB uses different system for different telco (or group of telcos) by the prefix number? reason: outgoing SMS rate is different.

well, this is defeating the MNP's purpose whereby it's suppose to be transparent on which telco you are actually using.

Unrelated to the CC thread, but just FYI, the sms gateway provider(aggregator) used by maybank is supposed to query the MNP clearinghouse(TGA) to identify which telco the number is on before they send the sms. The issue is that the sms provider need to pay the MNP clearinghouse for each query, so in order to minimize cost, it seems that maybank only does such query when you first register your phone number with them or when you call their CS to ask their IT dept to do it. Before you blame maybank or their sms provider for short-changing customers, there's also rumor saying the MNP clearinghouse(gov-licensed monopoly business) is owned by some BN cronies, that is another long story....

thank goodness got my Unifi bill today! quickly pay via M2U-AMEX to get the 5% CB tongue.gif

final day of 2013 to get CB yo! biggrin.gif

p/s: Suggestion when paying Unifi bills, or any other bills... since final 5% CB amount is rounddown by 2 decimals, better to pay the bills with round numbers (e.g. RM149, RM150, RM151, etc) instead of the actual amount stated in the bills (e.g. RM149.10, RM150.20, etc). This way, you get max CB amount without losing any teeny weeny cents due to rounddown calculation.

if u passed your statement date you will see your CB included in next month
*
my statement date is 21st. since CB is by calendar month, it'll be in next month's statement but will be shown in M2U transaction records anyway thumbup.gif

QUOTE(nickcct @ Dec 29 2013, 11:29 AM)
U pay manually on weekend?
*
yep, always manually on weekend. Unifi autopay gives you RM2 rebate (if i'm not mistaken), but Amex got 5% CB is translates to about RM7.xx (unifi VIP5 @ RM149) which is awesome smile.gif not yet include the 5X TP with Amex lehhh

Unifi bill for the past 3 months were generated around 28th (earlier this year was around 25th-26th). i guess with the increasing customers, their bill generation takes longer now.

so i'll always pay on the weekend when the bill comes (or, just pay the standard RM149 regardless of getting bill statement or not) cuz it'll be offset anyway and you have to pay the bill sooner or later.

Just to reconfirm : I got my Quit Rent bill today. I can pay via M2U using AMEX.

Pertaining to cash back:

1) I still can earn 5% CB if I pay during weekend?
2) TP will be 2X, since this payment is to government?

Much thanks.

Hi guys...ystday i suddenly received a sms which telling me that my amex has been used to buy something online..using usd currency..haiz..somebody used my amex n straight away i called CS..n they telling me that they will send the report to fraud dept n my amex is terminated n they will send a new replacement card within 5 working days..n bout that fraud transaction..they will investigate n remove it from my statement..anyone experience this before?how is the outcome?
*
happened to me 1 time. as long as you reported it immediately, should be fine.

the fraud transaction is actually in floating status, so not yet charged to your card. so maybank can flag it as fraud and block it from going through.

they'll cancel your amex card and replace with another card. just wait for a new card and you're good to go.

dont wait for few days only report it, cuz once the fraud transaction goes thru, you'll have to fill up the dispute form to reverse the charge (tedious and takes time).

p/s: Call CS up and set the SMS notification to RM1 threshold. set it for all your MBB cards. this way, any cc transactions RM1 and above will be sent an SMS to your mobile (a very good tool to monitor your cc activities, legal or illegal! smile.gif )

*Update: ok, talked thru MBB Customer Service. The payee (Pejabat Pengarah Tanah & Galian Selangor) in M2U does not accept any payment by any credit cards. Payment via CASA is accepted (just confirmed pay thru via Savings Accounts in M2U).

The AMEX option from the payment list is a bug/misleading from M2U. vmad.gif

it's about changing the mentality.
i know some older generations who prefer to pay bills at post office, despite numerous attempts to convince them it can be done online.

it's about whether one dares to change.

for me, i just prefer to look at my statement transaction records without needing to scroll... (if you know what i mean) laugh.gif

slightly offtopic, there were 2 cases whereby both TNB and SYABAS wrongly charged me (somewhere somehow their system didnt capture my previous payment via counter; they assume i still owe them!).

now, i'm not paying these payees via M2U/online/autopay cuz i want hardcopy bills for immediate dispute with them later.

p/s: i'm slightly from older generation too sweat.gif

i was referring to the itemised bill statement itself; i'd prefer to know what/how much were they charging me and records of my previous payments.

Someone called me asked if I want to BT to Maybank. I think the rate is 4.5%
Strange thing is he called from a handphone number (0127007442)
If he is from Maybank, why don't they use their land line?
*
even if maybank use landline, it could be a hotline number, so cannot be sure if it's truly from bank or someone else.

if i get these type of calls, i'd tell them, if i'm interested i'll walk-in to branches to do it. i never ever trust any type of calls asking for transaction confirmation (be it bt, cc application, etc)

you'll never know who's over the other line sweat.gif

usually they have a few options of date for you to choose. not any date that you want.
*
correcto! smile.gif

statement dates (aka bill cycles) is where they split the bill/statement generation into staggered period.

considering the amount of CC customers for MBB, it's not feasible for them to generate ALL the bills on 1 single day itself (which will span across days just to finish!).

so, they split it into different dates. this will reduces the system resources when generating the statements; and also allow ample time to deliver the physical statement to your doorstep (i still remember when i got the physical statement few days before the payment due date! sweat.gif )
