i use touch control too but it didnt drain that much battery in my case
btw u can always customize the way to unlock the phone. i used to accidentally unlock when phone in the pocket eventhough have to swipe from left to right on the screen. but i got it fixed after tweak the settings

It wont work because the phone itself couldnt provide enough power to power the usb drive.
But OTG will work as long as u provide the power externally

if flash stock image through cmd, then i dont think u need root. but unlocked bootloader is a must.
because after flashing stock images, u'll lose the root anyway.

so far not encountering any problem yet. But i do lost my backed up messages with TB, i believe its due to 4.4 removed the messaging (default app at 4.3) , it uses hangout right now. So my message at TB couldnt restore it to Hangout yet, I think TB needs an update first.

yeah true. I tried using the app u suggested to restore Titanium Backup xml files, but no luck
fortunately, titanium backup had updated today to 6.1.4 today. It had successfully restore my message from 4.3 to 4.4
