i read a book that says we should love ourselves before loving others. so todei i decided to love myself and took myself to a nice place for lunch.

i ordered a plate of spaghetti meatball marinara and a cuppa coffee. i was enjoying my meal and the nice environment. i feel very loved.

then i asked for the bill. It was RM33 and I took out my credit card. The waiter then say "Sorry Sir, we only accept credit card for amount more than RM50"

I terus furious. Cos I only have RM5 in my poket... so I komplen la "why must only RM50? What kind of policy is this..."
blablablablba then the waiter give stupid excuse said is bos decide wan.. then i said "why i go tesco i buy any amount also can use credit card"

In the end... i terpaksa tapao additional cake and coffee to make my bill more than rm50 to use the credit card.

Damn stupid man....waste my money...

i think the bank charges are just excuses to set a base limit to use credit card because the charges are by percentage....if we use 10 bucks the charges are 2% and if we use 100 bucks and the charges are still 2% ...it makes no difference between RM10 or RM100

because the merchant cannot wait for your rm33 for 30 days... the logic behind using credit card is u don't have to carry big cash amount..

if u don't even have 50 bucks in wallet then.... i hv no say..

What percentage do credit cards charge the merchant?

Answer:
Typically 2-3% for mastercard and visa.

because tesco doesnt care about that 3%

and other shop care ..so that why usually they wont allow u to swipe CC with less than certain amount of money

unless u tell them u willing to top up 3%

Coz whenever they sell via credit card, they also lose some money due to interest charge by bank between 1-3%

Hence they set the limit, by right its actually not legal but then again this is Malaysia where consumer rights are always not protected.

Btw Guardian/Watson how much amount also they accept card.

depends on what discount package the bank is offering to the merchant...

some banks only offer discounts/rebates/benefits/what not if both sales volume and amount is reached...

so even if they have a transaction, in your e.g. 2% but the volume is not reached, there will be no benefits to the merchant and yet they still need to pay the bank transaction fees... so might as well just tell you don't use your credit card if less than RM50

but by limiting the usage to only RM50 and above, they will have less CC transaction and it would be even harder to reach the volume needed because the sales volume is based on total CC transaction for the whole month....it still doesn't make sense on why they need to limit it to RM50 and above

I like credit/debit card because dun have to carry so much cash in the wallet.

Last time when I was in US, credit card is accepted almost anywhere and any amount. Very convenient indeed.

Used to buy lunch using debit card even the amount is USD5++, because I hate carrying quarter/pennies around (price after silly GST tax).

Oh wait, it only happened when i was at the states.

all the better cos they still prefer cash (not paying any fees at all to the bank) and they cannot remove credit card service in case some people buy in bulk... cos they know they definitely cannot reach the volume...

AT least standby RM200 in your wallet.

Credit card is for emergency purpose only/fuel/car repairs/groceries >RM100 etc

Personally I think TS has no wrong using CC to pay for bill less than rm50, it is the restaurant being wrong for not accepting credit card payment. Is there any bank rules saying that consumer cannot use CC to pay bill less than rm50? In this case, consumer is right.

It's not about having no money to dine or "makan pun mau hutang". It's about me not needing to carry cash around.

I like to use my CC for as many shits as possible. In Giant/Tesco etc even if the things I buy cost less than 20 I still prefer to use CC.

So yeah, those "RM50 below cannot use CC" shits annoy me.

I think the problem is the merchant not accepting RM50 or less credit card payment, Normally I will shun those shops or supermarket. I think The Store also have that ruling. And worst is duty free shop in KLIA also do not accept card purchase below RM50.00, Third world mentality in a first class Airport.

actually if i not wrong it is not because of the bank charges since what i know is that bank negara also not allow the extra change or set the limit when can used the cc but since to claim the money have period of time so the merchant charge so the time to w8 la.. it like we take the gov job/contract must w8 at least 3 month after work finish then only can claim so the cotract have markup p[rice to cover that..hohho'

Bodoh kelakar lar, gaji ckp 3k+ tapi cash nk makan pon xde.

I think even secondary school student got more cash in wallet than TS.

Credit card not always laku and sometimes problem, so it is always good idea to keep few hundreds cash in wallet.

There are some dont accept my AMEX and I have to use other credit card. So TS with only 1 credit card and no cash, you are going to have fun time thinking how to pay the bill.

Ya can. Other places that I know are like Giant, Watsons, Guardian, Starbucks also will accept card for any amount.
But some smaller grocers will only accept card for purchases above RM20.

haha so true. especially if the restaurant / shop is small one...
for chain restaurant/shop mostly accept any amount.
some restaurant accept minimum rm20, rm50 before can use credit card..
some shop accept minimum rm100 or rm250 before can use credit card..

so the best way, if you carry rm5 and want to eat fancy lunch / dinner ask the waiter if can use card (mastercard/visa/amex/debit) and the minimum amount they accept. also there is other variable like the machine faulty la, cannot connect la, cannot read chip etc...

i read a book that says we should love ourselves before loving others. so todei i decided to love myself and took myself to a nice place for lunch.

i ordered a plate of spaghetti meatball marinara and a cuppa coffee. i was enjoying my meal and the nice environment. i feel very loved.

then i asked for the bill.

Damn stupid man....waste my money...

if the shop is so small and cannot afford the cc changes for amount below X $ then why sign up to be cc merchant then?
on the other hand if the charge amount is too much to absorb, then add it to the price of your product/service.

putting the "visa/mastercard accepted" sign only to turn around and say we accept for amount above X is totally rubbish. its akin to bait and switch.
only thing worst than this are those PC shops.. yes we accept creditcard but we will charge you extra X% (was it 10%?) total daylight robbery mad.gif mad.gif mad.gif
