for me... i prefer to go wide range lar.,, it covers all sorts of possibilities..cos i don't have multiple wheels with different cassettes for different days and routes...  i feel that i need that 1 tooth more in case i see something that is impossible to climb....

maybe people who rides lots of flats would think a 12-27T is a good compromise... but i have ridden 11-32T and 11-28T for the longest period of time... i don't miss the closer ratio's in the middle... i just adjust my speed accordingly to the ratio gap if i can't push harder to speed up or do not want to slow down... be flexible a bit lar... not die die always have to increase speed one mar... it's not a competition on the road always... and if you constantly draft people... the lesser the effects you feel of the ratio gaps....

if you go 12-27T... i don't think you'll miss the 28t that much... but i am sure there is some gradient's that you'll find the 28t slightly a bit more helpful especially when it the hardness get compounded with a standard small 39t chainring....

most likely the fibreglass sole is as stiff as the carbon... i own a pair of bont a-three and it is fibreglass as well... i can't twist the sole anymore than the carbon a-two, vaypor and the rest....
