i am nobb so i got some queastion bout d DDR2 ram...
my fren using Corsair XMS2 DDRII-800 ram tat he overclocked to 1300mhz , but timing at 7-7-7-21 is tat possible can run or any1 running tis timing b4??
*
i think not possible.. loose timing for sure he doesnt need any high voltage.. long life span.. as long ram did not hit the wall

some question regarding the test for ram settings.......regarding latency

current i have my mushkin DDR800 stock 5,5,5,15 to run timing of 4,4,4,12 @ 2.15v..........i am running it on P965 Dark
it's PI32M stable but not othos, any idea where should i tweak to get this fix........  anyone have some experince to share it.......

other then orthos others everything seems to be working very well..... and no crashes so far after few days of running
*
try to up the vdimm.. make sure it not burn ur ram too much.. and have cooling oso.. coz u r using tight timing it maybe effect when u try to push ur HT or fsb

4get 2 mention tat he using 2.6v of voltage for d RAM....
AFAIK, d pc wont boot up wif tis kind of timing n voltage....
correct me f i`m wrong.....
*
for sure i think it cant set like tat.. once more voltage is too much edi.. better down back ur voltage.. sure salah setting timing

How to determine the lowest possible timing for my RAM?.. Corsair XMS2 6400 800Mhz currently running at 4-4-4-12 @667MHz.. To get 1:1 DRam:FSB Ratio...
*
try it. that the one method that u cAN know it

I see.. Thx for the info... Does adjusting the RAM voltage change anything?..
*
ram voltage is optional..

first try to change the timing
choose either loose or tight
basically tight timing will give u higher result in bencmarks (but using high voltage)
put it like this.. if ur timing is more more tight, the more voltage u need to make sure it function well

second
lower timing give u lower result than tight timing..
but u can save ur voltage( no need to set it higher )

conclusion:
voltage change everything once u playingw with the timing.. isit clear?? biggrin.gif

up to you. start from 4-4-4-8 ddr2 667

for example, crucial ram capable of running 4-4-4-4 at ddr2 880 in my case.

some ram capable of running 3-3-3-x ddr667
*
how much voltage for 4-4-4-4 880 at ur case?

QUOTE
What are the possible timing combinations of the RAMs?

u can use CPU-Z as the guide.. all the stock timing showing at there.. so use it to set the timing it..
no one can determine which one of timing that suit with u..
u must try urself..

In ram timings, the lower the value, the better/faster it is. For example, for a DDR2 800mhz rams, a tight timing would be 3-3-3-8 while a loose timing would be 5-5-5-15......
*
@tapirus
hard to xplain actually... which one is lower ( 1 or 9 ).. budak kecil will choose number 1 .. this represent faster and tight..
the highest will be 9 which represent loosen n slow...
it can be understand??
or will try to xplain in other word n version.. biggrin.gif

will give a try to memtest then, thanks! smile.gif
I think all the RAM will still under warranty as long as the vdimm is under 2.2v... btw, i just planning to get a pair of RAM heatsink (around RM20) to cool down my RAM only, not going to those high end heat sink... blush.gif
*
correction..memtest n memset is different software..
make sure u know what it is..

dont talk about warranty, as long is not damage u can still claiming.. once it burn becoz of the oc.. prepare ur money la..

Just get myself a pair of D9GMH. So far, I OCed it till 900MHz, 5-5-5-15, 2.0v. But once i tweak the timing to 4-4-4-12, it boot up but hang at the bios screen there(so, i not able to get into window). Anyone know why? Do I need to push up vdimm again? wink.gif
*
make sure u know ur ram very well..
dont suka2 change ur ram timing like tat.. when u change ur ram timing from loosen to tight.. u need to make sure voltage is enuff..

if u doesnt know well ur ram, i suggest to set it from earlier, and do step by step, fail to do so will make ur window cant boot at all..

2.1v without cooling, consider safe.. more than that put ram cooling onto it, experiment urself , no one can help u..

timing 5-5-5-15 with 2.0, sure still can handle..
timing 4-4-4-12 u need to pump more..

using memset just help u to save time to do the correction to get fast in superpi,
but the point is know the right voltage for it..

ya, i know the different between memtest and memset.. thanks for remind. laugh.gif

I think i know what is the problem, because of using window vista now, sometimes when I OC my computer, it can't boot into vista, but able to go into XP...
sometime orthos stable at xp, but failed at vista... sad.gif
*
for that i dun know.. tak penah oc using vista lagi..
anyway, try to oc fist using xp.. then u change to vista.. hope it work..

I m using Kingston Value RAM 2GB 667Mhz  1GB is Hynix, and another one 1GB is Micron chipset

So, I Overclock it to 800Mhz without adding Vcore, should not be a prroblem right ? I don't not tune the timing etc....
*
u dont know until u test it with testing software.. if find error, sure problem

5-5-5-31 is the wrong timing for it, the SPD itself is 5-5-5-15 at least. You can usually get at least 4-4-4-12.
*
i think the last timing 31, quite imposibble.. try to change the subtiming
