erm, micron D9GKX/GMH can do 1100mhz with CL4, if u are lucky enough, some can do 1300mhz with CL5 brows.gif , simple say its like the o skool BH5

Looks like it's another piece of good stuff biggrin.gif
Well, what RAM normally carries it? Crucials?

I think currently most easiest to find is Crucial Ballitix/Ballitix Tracer which comes with D9GMH chipset... Btw, some value RAM also come with micron D9 chipset like Kingston, TEAM, but it is quite difficult to find it now...

I heard from someone that it can be found on Kingston KVR too. If only I happen to see them, I'd get 2 sticks biggrin.gif

Kingston KVR?
that would be hard.
You should see a lot hynix in KVR which can do ddr2-1000 with loose timing smile.gif

And its very cheap nowadays smile.gif
*
Newer KVR's are no longer with Hynix chips - mostly Elpida and Kingston chips.
I'm not sure if the next batch would come with Hynix again though.

clawhammer, I bought few sticks of 1gb ddr2-667 KVR lately from Ash in garage sales.

All of them hynix smile.gif
*
Yeah, he still has some stocks of Hynix. I went scouted in LY and Digital mall, none has Hynix biggrin.gif

How do you guys normally "handpick" RAMs that has head spreaders? Are we able to tell what chips they carry without opening it? smile.gif

I'm still rather confused with the "handpick" term smile.gif You mean these are specially selected RAMs out from the factory and they perform better than the rest?

Thanks for the information. I only remember I "handpicked" my OEM AthlonXP NIUHB laugh.gif I didn't know these days they do it from the factories.

From what I understand in other forums, current Ballistix and Tracers are all D9-GMH.

Older ones might not be a guarantee though. I'm not sure how accurate is this but mine works great.

It's either Hynix or Kingston chipset I guess.

The older one is the one that can outperform the present models.
Since the older one uses Micron Fatbody chips.

Interesting but never had the opportunity to try it out.

My bad for missing out Elpida earlier. It should be better than those Kingston chipset I guess? You have to try them out.
I just sold my Hynix for Ballistix and I'm getting tighter timings at lower voltage plus higher FSB biggrin.gif

my crucial value does the same thing

You Crucial Value must be a very good RAM then since my Hynix can't even do those timings.
Are we talking about 1:1 or something else here? smile.gif

They do but they just call it a different name.

1:1 means the RAM would run synchronously with the FSB. There must be some settings in the BIOS? I'm not sure what name they give to it tho'.

AMD - Unfortunately, the CPU we are using for testing is a 3400+ with a rather low CPU multiplier, at 9x. This limits flexibility a bit, but it was decided that keeping the CPU clock speed at 2.8GHz by raising the HTT up to 311mhz and leaving the multiplier at 9x. On the AM2 platform, there are 4 different memory ratios:
DDR2-400 (1:1) - Gives CPU/9 memory divider, which sets the memory to 311MHz
DDR2-533 (4:3) - CPU/7, sets the memory to 400MHz
DDR2-667 (5:3) - CPU/6, memory to 466MHz
DDR2-800 (2:1) - CPU/5, memory runs at 560MHz
(Note: memory ratios are still calcuated the same way as DDR1 based K8s. See A64 OC'ing Guide for further details on this)

http://eclipseoc.com/index.php?id=1,65,0,0,1,0

Another one of how it can be set:
http://www.ocforums.com/showpost.php?p=4701397&postcount=30

The BIOS would somehow have to tell what frequency would the FSB, DRAM, etc runs. The settings and options might be different but ultimately, there must be somewhere to set a synchronous FSB:DRAM?

I normally frequent quite a number of other forums and most people are on Ballistix (that's for sure). Of course, there are also people with other types of RAM smile.gif
