Added on December 5, 2007, 8:45 pmwant to ask here.,if i run default cpu speed at 1.86ghz.,can i set the timings for my ram at 4-4-4-12 for crucial ballistix 2gb ddr-800 rams?
The ballistix can usually run 4-4-4-8 @ 800mhz @ 1.8v.

You can even try 4-4-4-4 @ 950mhz @ 2.1v (my ballistix maxed out at 4-4-4-4 @ 960mhz @ 2.1v). If you loosen the timings, you could even go above 1100mhz.... drool.gif

So far, still the D9 chips - especially the D9GKX (the best) and D9GMH...

Dude, where got 2GB DDR2 single stick that comes with Micron D9GMH / D9GKX? laugh.gif

U go read leslie0880 question again lar. tongue.gif

Micron D9GMH / D9GKX has never been used on a single stick 2GB DDR2.

Hehe....didn't see the 2gb PER stick...... sorry.... sweat.gif

QUOTE(ah_khoo @ Dec 19 2007, 08:46 AM)
guys, few quick questions to ask:

for a pair of d9gmh (average class, not top class)

1.) how much voltage needed to do DDR800 @ 4-4-4-x?
2.) how much voltage needed to do DDR1000 @ 5-4-4-x?
3.) how high it can go & amount of juice needed?

i'm currently considering to upgrade to d9gmh from d9dcl, please give some inputs whether it's worth it or not, thanks...  smile.gif

my pair of d9dcl can do:
1.) DDR800 @ 4-4-4-8 w/ 2.05v  biggrin.gif
2.) DDR850 @ 4-4-4-8 w/ 2.20v  sweat.gif
3.) DDR1000 @ 5-4-4-15 w/ 2.20v  sad.gif
*
Definitely the D9GMH will OC higher but in terms of real-world app, it won't be noticeable.

My crucial ballistix DDR2-800:
DDR800 @ 4-4-4-8 @ 1.8v - bootable into windows but never tried stability (because not planning to run so low!!!)
DDR 950mhz @ 4-4-4-4 @ 2.1v (was running 24/7 at this setting before changing to the setting below)
---- note 4-4-4-4 and NOT 4-4-4-8!!! laugh.gif
DDR 1051mhz @ 5-4-4-8 @ 2.1v (was running 24/7 at this setting)

Why not 2.2v? Hehe.... don't want to run so high.....

Now running crucial 10th anni, not as good as my ballistix, probably not a good batch... sad.gif (See my sig)

Ello i got 1 question.
My Motherbord supports 1333Mhz FSB (C2Q compatible)
But equipted with a Pentium D 3.2GHz
so i want to add a DDR2 RAM in it, what is the MAX MHz can i fit in??
667, 800 or 1066???
i'm looking for a High Performance one...
*
What mobo? You can google the information or go to their website to check the specs. IINM, a lot of mainstream mobos support DDR2-800 but can OC higher than that.

i have this Q, what chipset my RAM on actually?

it's Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC5300 DDR2 667 (BL2KIT12864AL663)
*
There was some discussion on this when Ace posted on this topic here : http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/533618

Apparently, from what I understand, we don't really know the chipset and crucial never really advertise that their rams are all micron D9..... hmm.gif

Definitely. 4 sticks of rams are more difficult to overclocked compared to 2 sticks. In addition, your PC2-5300 will hold back the overclock.

Should be able to run perfectly without any problems at stock clocks...... I have 1gb x 4 sticks but haven't tried on my DS3 yet....

Haizz..... bored.... decided to test my 10th anni again...

Moved my rams to the slots near the CPU (previously on the slots away from the CPU)...

Ram settings at 4-4-4-8 @ 2.1v (extreme performance in bios)
- 970mhz failed orthos (blend test)
- 965mhz - ongoing test (see pic).... smile.gif

Wish I had those 10th Anni so that I can push my Processor further.  nod.gif

Haiyaa.... failed after 1+ hour..... looks like the slots near the CPU also same results....

So far, the 2 pairs of crucial rams (ballistix and 10th anni) I have seems to overclock almost as good.... up to 2.1v at least.... but remember that the 10th anni is DDR2-667 while the ballistix is DDR2-800....

@ skymyxe - why not get the crucial ballistix? Now selling for soooooo much cheaper in garage sales.... RM290 for 2x1gb... drool.gif

QUOTE(almostthere @ Jan 18 2008, 12:19 PM)
I'll try to make this sound as simple as possible.

OCCT was once THE stress tester but I observed it was meant as a total system stresser. However it yielded failures which were totally unrelated to 90% of daily OC usage since slight deviations in mobo reliabillity would just kick in error messages

Hence I'd say it's better to go the longer but reassuring route of ORTHOS small FFT 6 hours to stress the proc and Memtest 86+ 25 iterations for test #5 (Could be #8, my memory recollection fails me). In those instances it would be in fact easier to pinpoint which is giving you instabillity unlike OCCT which would just give you a general idea
*
I like to add something.

I totally agree with what almostthere said above and I usually do that too i.e. test the CPU and memory separately. However, I also do test the rig as a whole e.g. using the OCCT or orthos blend test.....

This is because each stressed parts may be working perfectly but the whole rig might not...... smile.gif

what the heck... shocking.gif, 1T, it's good dude, i rather to go for 1T with low/tight timing than loose timing with high speed (only for benchmark though)
*
I haven't been following recent DDR2 performances but if memory serves me right, comparison reviews between 1T and 2T for DDR2 showed no significant differences, if any...... hmm.gif

Try running a program that do a lot of calculations in a second, from there you'll see which one will complete faster.

I do hope so. It is about time DDR2 catch up with DDR in terms of command rates......
