In the new BTU huawei hg8240h I found there is actually a WebUI for u to play around with. Unlike its predecessor hg8240w, u have to input the parameters the old school "cmd" and "telnet" way in order to perform congifiguration.

Dhcp configuration as follows:
Ip address : 192.168.1.[2<=x<=254, u decide]
Subnet mask : 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway. : 192.168.1.1

Navigate to 192.168.1.1 via any preferred browser.
Username: tmadmin
Password: Adm@xxxx [xxxx are last 4 digits of your MAC address found at bottom sticker]
*credentials are case sensitive

#half-a55ed thread, lOl...

*Thanks cheenon for correction

correction: hg8240w does have webUI, u dont have to go thru cmd interface icon_rolleyes.gif

1st thing I did was disabling anything "remote" and "tr-069" related. I'll attach screenshots when time permits. What about u ppl? Im still figuring out if detaching hypptv VLAN 600 traffic from LAN 1 is possible.

Good job, and it is not surprising that you can only access the BTU via the command line.

Then which networking device will be the dhcp server? The BTU itself?

1. Is it possible to do VLAN600 tagging into any other 3 ports?

2. Telephone SIP setting. Maybe you can help fellow Maxis users here to use TM BTU to vonnect Maxis phone number so that they can detech that crappy TPLink router completely.

3. Set BTU as PPoE dialer directly.

1. Not possible with unifi custom firmware.

2. Probably can.

3. Not possible with unifi custom firmware.

Can you access the Internet though, with just the BTU?
*
No, not possible with unifi custom firmware, haha i replied to wrong person. Btw, things i did so far are disabling VLAN 209 & TR-069 and disabling "power saving". I'll attach screenshots when im free. Anyone here has this modem?

can ping 192.168.1.1 but cannot access, is it have to vlan tag the connection to be able to access?
*
No need VLAN tag, you have to connect the BTU to your laptop directly without passing through the router.

fruitie Does this forum have thread takeover function? If so, who wants to take it? SilentVampire Do u want to take the helm? Or have this thread merged with existing Huawei HG8240W thread. These 2 are essentially the same device in the core with different shells. hmm.gif Im fine with whatever decision u guys come out with, i wont be as active on this forum anymore.
