If you're on Unifi:
HG8240w: web interface is only available if you reset it with fiber cable unplugged. Once you plugged it back, TM's system will automatically remotely configure it blocking it again HG8240h: web interface always available, but you can only login with root account as telecomadmin's password is changed. There's a way to bypass, figure it yourself If you're on Maxis using TM's infra: HG8240w/8240h: Web interface is always available. TM's system will automatically remotely configure telecomadmin's password to default |

While I'm trying to get access to TM's HG8240w telnet interface by following some guides on chinese site, which didn't work unfortunately even though I was using Huawei's official software, I came across a site in which the owner had access to firmwares for Huawei BTUs. So I requested for a copy of HG8240w's latest firmware from him, which I tried flashing into my BTU but nothing ever happened, it didn't went into the flashing mode.
Anyway, I'm posting the firmware here so any experienced sifus here can give it a try. One more thing, I'm not really sure whether this is compatible with all HG8240w as there's a v2 version listed on Huawei's site, and the difference may be in the V200/V300 software it's running? Not sure about it yet. The firmware below is for V300, which is listed on the BTU's original packaging. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-Loo4TDbb...iew?usp=sharing |

If so, who wants to take it? SilentVampire Do u want to take the helm? Or have this thread merged with existing Huawei HG8240W thread. These 2 are essentially the same device in the core with different shells. |

Anyone here have any idea on disabling Vlan tagging on the Huawei HG 8240 modem? Web UI doesn't show anything about the vlan tagging

I read some people claim the HG8240W has 100Mbps max and somewhere on yourtube someone commented that TM officially said 800/200Mbps with this modem is not possible.
I find that hard to believe. https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/do...18690%7C8471292 GPON Port Specifications This topic describes specifications and standards compliance of the GPON interfaces. Table 1-1 GPON port specifications Parameter Specifications Transmission rate Rx: 2.488 Gbit/s Tx: 1.244 Gbit/s Connector SC/APC Maximum transmission distance 20 km Standard compliance ITU-T G.984.2 CLASS B+ Center wavelength Tx: 1310 nm Rx: 1490 nm Tx optical power 0.5 dBm to 5.0 dBm Extinction ratio > 10 dB Minimum receiver sensitivity -27 dBm Maximum overload optical power -8 dBm This modem according to Huawei can easily do 1Gbps both up and downstream. Unless of course Huawei is a untrustworthy company that is lying on their specifications. But since all the world considers Huawei the only trustworthy company in the world, at least it seems that's the case because all the world wants Huawei, we have to assume the specifications by Huawei are correct and thus 1Gbps is easily doable. |

i am on maxis fiber broadband, i was given the TM branded HG8240H GPON, i can login to the web interface if i disconnected my fiber cable, if i connect the fiber cable, i can't access to 192.168.1.1 web interface at all. This makes me very difficult to change the VOIP setting because i can't check the connection status real time
i tried to do a hard reset of that GPON but it is still the same, anyone face the same issue and how to fix it? |

So unfortunately you have to configure while it's unplugged. Also, it's not possible to get VOIP on the modem working for Maxis, many other have tried, notably Anime4000, ask em for the technical side of things. |

Yes it's up to 2.4Gbit on the GPON side of things.I find that hard to believe. https://support.huawei.com/enterprise/en/do...18690%7C8471292 GPON Port Specifications This topic describes specifications and standards compliance of the GPON interfaces. So from Fibre to Modem it's 2.4Gbit The question is, what about the link from the modem to the router? The Huawei page required an account which I didn't bother to sign up If it has Gigabit Ethernet ports, then between Modem to Router there is up to 1Gbit If it only has Fast Ethernet ports, then only 100Mbps max between. Check if the Ethernet ports are 10/100 or 10/100/1000 |
