Hi, i need some idea from u guys on how to mod the side panel for my antec p180.. i already removed the silver aluminium that cover the side panel so rite now as u can see in the pic is the base of the side panel itself..

well i think i made a mistake by removing the silver side panel but i have no choice since i already 'ter'scratched it quite deep when i was lifting the casing on a trolly! laugh.gif
hehe

so here is the pic of the side panel after i remove the silver cover.. i tell u sthing, it's damn hard! :

user posted image

ok here is the pic of the inside of the case.. as we can see it got 2 parts, bottom for hdd + psu and upper part for mobo + my wc ..

user posted image

I'm very bad in modding side panel, esp for case with 2 sections like this one.. Last time i had lian li v1000b which also got 2 sections but i just bought the original arcylic lian li side panel .. So i hope u guys can give me some idea how to mod it.. i hope can make it look smart and of course neat..

thx a lot in advance~!! notworthy.gif

I suggest you throw your ruined side panel away and make an entire acrylic to replace it. That would be nice.

i dont mean to be a jerk or anything, but i still think the p180 should be left the way it is - without mods. i mean, you dont mod a beatiful DB9 or an Enzo, do you? laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif

yeah u're not jerk bcoz many p180 user feel the same way.. me too to be honest. but somehow i'm a bit worry bout my wc insde a box where there is no hole that i can see to check the condition biggrin.gif

so here is my plan .. i'll put a tinted arcylic at the side panel.. for now i managed to put back the outer silver aluminium at its original place so i'll decide whether to do like the pic in ikan semilang's post above ..

kianwee :

ur idea seems simple and nice but i'm afraid it will look cheapo which will spoil the look of this p180 (well.. i already spoilt it .. but i guess just a lil bit laugh.gif )

shiinkuro31:

i try to imagine ur idea and i guess i know .. u mean i put arcylic as side panel like kianwee said and then i spray it with silver color from the inside .. am i rite ?

well i am thinking to do airbrush for both right and front panel.. this casing is simply elegant, but sometime it looks like a flat house! =D

Good god what did you do to that sweet P180? laugh.gif

Hrm. Since you got the silver panel back on (hopefully it still looks decent), then yeah, a window would be good. But whatever acoustic dampening properties the side panel had will no longer exist now. laugh.gif

Well, not really true. We can always do a sandwich window using 1 acrylic sheet on outside n 1 on the inside with a layer of air between the 2 sheets of acrylic just like double glazing windows. That shud b more than enuf soundproofing.

For double glazed window, at least a small gap between the two sheets of acrylic right?

I think cutting a large side window on the P180 is not a good idea. P180 may be good in everything but it sucks in cable management. So if you have a large side window like the one above, you will have a messy rig.

I suggest cutting a side window just the size of a ATX mobo so that you can only see the mobo from outside, and not all the mess and drive cages. Maybe you can make a "P" shape window that helps to showoff the mobo and the PSU.

A smaller side window also helps to lower vibration... a thicker acrylic at the side panel also can make the side panel more rigid.
