Hi guys, decided to open a new thread rather than posting on my 600D thread, please help me on this! Decided to go for either 650D or 700D EOS.

So far I've managed to find the cash pricing for the 650D to be RM 2k cheapest with 18-55 IS II kit lens and 700D RM 2350 with 18-55 IS STM lens.

In your opinion, guys, may I know which would be more worth getting? And are the pricings reasonable or it's possible to find cheaper ones (prefer non-grey sets)

i don't know what's your requirement but have you consider 100D? do you need flip out LCD?

take the 700D since you can afford it. You'll get a better body (slight improvements) and a better lens.

if u plan to do some video, then the 700D + kit wif STM it is...

no annoying lens AF noise

the best way to do video is still to manual focus.

They are the same camera basically, just a little bit improved in video autofocus on the 700D. Both of the 18-55 are quite similar also, just the STM focuses in video and quietly.

the key term is AF in video. <=-- note the AF.

If you're a MF user then makes no diference.

i tried the 100D with the new kit lens the other day, silent auto focus, only hear the focus beep.

You might want to consider a 650D with 18-135mm STM lens. A STM lens with more range. Its about RM400 more expensive than 700D with 18-55 STM, but more worth it.

but it is still quite slow isn't it? which kinda kill the purpose having autofocus. I think the usable autofocus system would be the one on the 70D, smooth, accurate and quick. Can even track moving subjects.

those AF video to me, are just "selling points".

I'm sure you used AF for photo. Sometimes it hunts. Would you want that to appear on video?

Furthermore, the beauty of video is to transition the AF slowly in a smooth way.

All in all - I will not trust AF for moving subjects for video because it just looks awful especially if the AF is confused and keep hunting.

the 70D's is quite promising isn't it? you had the camera right? mind to give a short review of the AF?

regardless of how the AF is, I'm always use MF to decide video focusing because there are times when we want the focus to change.

Unless I can replicate my brain in the camera, I will not use AF on video.
