the image quality seems disappointing... i thought this would be a good camera phone.

QUOTE(ZeneticX @ Oct 9 2013, 12:31 AM) based on what its disappointing? u comparing with ? I saw some comparison reviews..seems like not detailed as expected. And I went senq..just auto setting..snap the surrounding..so surprised on the grainyness when I pinch to zoom. Even close up of the senq price sheet also very grainy.its definitely a good camera phone as agreed by many reviews despite its shortcomings real pictures not many yet |

QUOTE(mode893 @ Oct 9 2013, 06:17 PM) If it looks so bad, then probably the lens is smudged. It shouldn't look too bad for the layman's eyes, and fingerprint smudged lens can make pics turn out really bad. Those comparison reviews are looking at full auto, filtering out the wealth of manual options Z1 has, so not very fair for all the effort Sony has gone through to cram such a big sensor into such a thin phone Lens not smudged. I guess like Calvin mentioned...high iso. Like u said even in layman eyes its bad. I own a htc one,so I expected the quality to be far off from htc one..because htc one camera is quite disappointing too..hahah.QUOTE(Calvin Seak @ Oct 9 2013, 06:36 PM) IF its grainy it means the sensor is on HIGH-ISO.. Well that's how I test camera on phones. I zoom to see the detail, sharpness etc.. But it didn't perform better than my htc one. Also I read some reviews it has issues with indoor shots..which is not as good. I'm talking all auto settings..no manual tinkering...that's how normal ppl use it anyway. But setting manually will get better pictures. I was so excited about Z1, because not long ago...they leaked night shots using z1 in Singapore and the pictures were amazing... I guess they weren't on auto.First of all you're shooting indoor where there is low light therefore the the Sensor is forced to push its iso higher to have a balance exposure Second you magnified the image therefore grain is much more obvious than the full resolution photo >< To be honest, I love the camera alot, thats why I got the phone, Lowlight images are wonderful for such a small sensor, but I don't think it will replace my compact camera Btw I pinch to zoom on the image after taking the shot, not digital zoom then snap photo.
